Why no transgenders are able to compete at Miss Universe since 2019?

Postby ajsy0203 » Sun Mar 27, 2022 10:18 am

After Angela Ponce's stint at Miss Universe 2018, no transgenders with legally female status were chosen or appointed as their country's representative at Miss Universe 2019-2021. Although Kataluna Enriquez tried to win at Miss USA 2021 but she ended up unplaced & lost to Elle Smith.

What were the reasons why these transgenders with legally female status unable to compete at Miss Universe in the last 3 editions despite Angela's courage to compete at this prestigious pageant that was started to implement in 2013 edition?

OT:

You decide if she was right or not against Nawat's opinion about rejecting transgenders at MGI and other pageants outside Miss Universe.

so how are they not allowing them to compete? MUO has zero say in who wins the national titles. That's like saying dark skin brunettes are being allowed to compete at Miss Universe because they dont win their national pageant. Or saying girls who wear a head covering aren't allowed to compete at Miss Universe because they dont win their national title. If Luna didnt place it's because she was outperformed.

I thought lots of transgenders with legally female status will apply for Miss Universe national pageants but they were not lucky as Angela.

Not every trans wants to be a beauty pageant winner. Trans could be teachers, lawyers, doctors etc.. and btw, we're under a global pandemic,
not everyone is ready to go back to "normal"

Five years and some people are still on this. It's amazing. At least the Thais are not being hypocrites. To all the gays here from Philippines who are talking this way, don't get rabid about beauty pageant and act like diva queens. Be men.

Stupid. Tell that to Patricia Rodriguez and the countless lesbian/bisexual closeted and open participants who've competed at the Miss Universe pageant.

Not everyone enters the Miss universe pageant. Only people who identify as women do. Not men in drag.

A transgender completes gender transition at a later age. Even the ones who are lucky to start early are in their mid-20s when they have gender confirming surgery. Unless the family is supportive, which is rare, the child is able to have surgery after being legal to at 18. This is the biggest factor, I think, why trans are not competing in beauty pageants especially from countries such as the Philippines, Thailand and Latin America.

Lot's of Pinoy pageant fans opposed transgenders with legally female to compete at Miss Universe. But several transgender advocates claimed that joining Miss Universe instead of Miss International Queen will give a strong address about the oppression of transgenders in the society and claimed that transgenders are also women.

Transgender men and women want to be accepted with the sex they identify with. Even in sports, transgender women who has competed gender transition and has similar testesterone level as a woman is allowed to compete. But propaganda and sensationalism has stigmatized transgender women in sports. In sports, at least transgender women have an unfair advantage. But in pageants, it's the opposite with transgender having a complete disadvantage with time (age limit due to complete transition), voice and depending on the individual, face and build.

There are two transgenders who will compete at Miss Universe national pageants this year. One is eligible to compete at Miss Universe 2022 from Netherlands while the other is ineligible to compete at Miss Universe 2022 from Vietnam because of lack of legal document to prove that she is legally female.
