Why struggle in Hollywood if you are already a star in your home country

Definitely. Well, on the case of Gal, it just proves that you don't need to win the title; being a participant already makes you famous, to begin with. Jennifer Hawkins, being a host and continuing her modelling career, still shows that she is well known in Australia, although she doesn't need to push herself beyond that. It should be up to them.ajsy0203 wrote:Maybe this a hot discussion because Miss Universe Israel 2004 Gal Gadot is more famous & popular than Miss Universe 2004 winner Jennifer Hawkins despite Jennifer has her own success in native Australia?
I think both of their opportunities will still be the same, regardless of where they will reside (although I am not a fan of the MUO spinning off Miss USA and Miss Teen USA). In fact, the MUO was wholly based in California until the Donald moved them to New York (because that is where his tower is).ajsy0203 wrote:universus wrote:Because most winners are not actresses. But whoever will win Miss USA 2021, she will move to Los Angeles while the winner of Miss Universe 2021 will move to New York for their respective reigns.

There are millions of actors out there who are not known, and sadly won't ever be known.
How many people, who graduate from university with a theater/acting degree, actually make it into Hollywood? At most, they probably make it into their local theater--a "B Movie" if they're lucky or maybe a Hallmark holiday movie.
Same can be said for Victoria Secret models--why haven't many of them broken into hollywood as serious/legitimate actresses instead of making cameo appearances as themselves, saying a line or two, and thats it?
You also have athletes who may "retire" from their profession and also try to break into Hollywood, but very rarely ever do.
Hollywood is its own separate animal that has no rhyme or reason, no clear entrance or exit, and strives at the whim of the average person. We, the masses, keep it alive and moving based on how fickle we are.
So as pretty as Miss Universe may be, and despite her title, she's not universally known. She may very well be a celebrity in her home country, but if you go to Hollywood and ask people what they think about Jennifer Hawkins, people will be like "OMG yeah I love Jennifer Lawrence!"

stupid! several hollywood well known actors are not born in america.
Exactly. Being a part of the entertainment industry isn’t something you expect from Miss Universe all the time, In fact, a more ideal expectation is when they become diplomats. However, some eventually enter their own local entertainment industries and some even become directresses of the pageants they won in.beautywatchnyc wrote:
Since when has a career in Hollywood become the ultimate measure or yardstick of personal success or professional fulfilment for a Ms U titleholder? Please enlighten us.
I would definitely agree with this - even Miss World winners have this expectation and some are successful (e.g. Aishwarya and Priyanka). Although in the case of Miss World, I don't think their fans always expect that to happen; they expect her to land in politics (e.g. Kaiane Aldorino) or continuing with their platforms.ajsy0203 wrote:Theories about why this question was asked:
1. NBC-Trump era offered a small role in a telenovela and also in the past
2. TS thinked that Miss Universe is like Miss Chinese International of TVB, when they were offered potential actress or host roles if you made it to the Top 3 but most recent MCI winners & runners-up already left TVB. MCI 2005-1st Runner Up Fala Chen is now starred in Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings but she already ended her contract with TVB few years back.
3. Halle Berry, Michelle Yeoh, Gal Gadot, Priyanka Chopra & Ariadna Gutierrez' life in Hollywood and possibly some Latina Beauty queens in Florida
