MPE to follow MUSA road!

Postby Luneta » Mon Aug 22, 2022 5:09 am

We've seen Carousel prod. presented gamechanging system in the pageant world, even the oldest pageants followed suit.

They pioneered the continental distribution in the semi-finals, the no make-up round and the on-the-spot speech round on which Miss Universe, MW and other small pageants mirrored.

But as they innovate, they need to learn also from the other pageants as well.

Like what MUO did to MISS USA! Making MUSA independent from MUO.

I think, they need let an organization, apart from Carousel, to stage the annual MPE.

This will elevate the presence of ME here in the Philippines because most of the Filipinos believe of biases even if our candidate is really crown-worthy.

We need a MPE National Director that would be the image of the organization.

Maybe letting reputable organization handle the franchise, Maybe Mutya ng Pilipinas-Earth or (WISHFULLY) Binibining Pilipinas-Earth

I somewhat agree but then, do you think Carousel will just give up MPE? I believe, they have already created a foothold on several LGU's which other national pageants are tying to emulate, it is a thriving business endeavour. Remember that it is also MPE that started the trend of having the municipalities or cities be represented by the delegates and other national pageants follow. It is a good promotion. If ever they handed it over to other national pageant, it must be handled by previous Miss Earth Queens. :=p :=p =D> =D> .

This claim is not correct, Miss World has been doing this since 2005 (or even earlier)…

Regarding your wish that MPE be handled by another organization, I expect blind fanatics to disagree 8-} 8-}

Hoping that any of these four MPE queens be given a chance to handle MPE.

To be honest, I feel very mixed about this since I know that Carousel has been struggling to keep both pageants alive (unfortunately, this was also the case of the MUO, hence why the trio no longer exists). However, given that pageants with sister titles (just like Miss Earth, Miss Philippines Earth, and even Miss International and Miss International Japan) and sister titleholders are still fascinating (and honestly, to see the MUO trio no longer exist is devastating, at least on my opinion, and in the wake of Cheslie's death, I really miss this concept and I lament its end; this is actually why I no longer cover Miss Universe or Miss USA/Teen USA anymore), I suggest Carousel to have a separate committee within their organization that would manage Miss Philippines Earth-only affairs, with the rest of the organization still doing their support to Miss Philippines Earth and Miss Earth, without the brands actually separating from each other or even being fully distinct.

The selection of continental distribution, though, isn't Miss Earth's; as Stoichio said it, Miss World already did this in 2005, 2006, and 2018, and the concept of Continental Queen of Beauty (which is related to this) is the creation of Miss World, not Miss Earth (just to add some information about this). That system still exists today, although they modified it in 2016 in which the reigning Miss World is no longer a continental queen upon her accession and that the second-highest placing woman from her continental group wins that title instead (e.g. Solaris Barba).

I realize that many Filipino fans want the other Philippine national systems to take over MPE. But it needs to remain as a stand alone pageant if it were to keep its own identity while continuing its effort to promote various environmental causes. Otherwise, it will just be one crown amongst many. So I like your idea of a separate committee or department within Carousel to take care of the MPE affairs.

Ibenta na yong MPE, hodge-podge pageant lang naman iyon. Kaso I doubt, mukhang tubong lugaw sila dyan kahit pa pang Barangay ang production nila.
my name is bad but i am good

Miss Universe only and nothing else!

Yup, and this is how I think the MUO should've managed all of their three original pageants to begin with, with three different sub-committees for each, while still keeping a union of sister pageants. All pageants with this similar relationship (I think Miss Supranational also has the same relationship with Miss Polski, since Miss Polski was held in the same stage as Miss/Mister Supranational days after the latter concluded) should at least consider this before they end up neglecting one or all.

I actually agree with some of your observations. For me, Carousel had spread herself thin - meaning they were doing
two gargantuan tasks (MPE and ME) and were unable to deliver the goods in both. They try to do two things at the same
time ... only to find out they can't give their 100% attention to some minute details.

One thing I noticed is the quality of candidates being fielded is not of the same pedigree as the candidates seen in
BB Pilipinas or Miss Universe Philippines. Lorraine can give the job to Karen Ibasco, Jamie Herrell, and Angelia Ong to
delegate responsibilities so she can breathe a little easier. And the triumvirate can plan an all-out campaign to raise
and improve the caliber of candidates

All Lorraine needs is to make sure that MPE is under the umbrella of ME and that they are sister companies. That's all
there is to it.
