new Miss Universe owner Jakapong “Anne” Jakrajutatip =

^Everything depends on the judges^

Do you think that Miss Thailand will eventually win or make it to the exclusive group of finalists every year?
Or would the new owner will let the judges pick the real winner and not the owner? ;;?

Thailand will surely enjoy the advantage that USA had for the past 70 years when they still have the ownership. The 3rd crown for Thailand is possible in the next 3 to 5 years. Definitely not this year. Crowning a Thai woman on the same year that they acquire the ownership is going to be bad for her business and reputation.

Philippines also enjoyed the advantage in Miss Earth. Japan also enjoyed the advantage in Miss International.. So let's give it to Thailand. Let's not throw stones just because they are the new owner. Lastly if their representative is deserving to win the crown, why not. Anne seems to be preparing very well.

No Q&A is unlikely to happen especially in Miss Universe, so don't assume to much and belittle Thailand's capacity to win the crown.

Miss International was created in 1960 in Long Beach, California, USA. In 1968 the contest was bought by Japanese businessmen, who established their country as a permanent venue.

During these 54 years, the directors have never favored their country and Japan has only one victory: Ikumi Yoshimatsu (winner in 2012)
It is confirmed "Miss International" is the most honest beauty pageant there is.

Advantage doesn't mean winning the crown or ending up as runners up. Placing also counts. Since most people here already claimed Thailand will place like forever in Miss U after acquiring ownership. Japan from what I read entered the first cut at a whopping 46 times at Miss International. That's 46 years. Unless what I read is wrong. Then there is Philippines in Miss Earth.

I'm still slightly disappointed this ownership change had to happen when Anna is MUT. She is my legit contender for the crown and is finally not a halfie contestant (which I'm not very proud of) from Thailand after so many years - and now the odds are stacked against her.

If there really is no bias then I expect to see countries make the cut that are rarely called or countries that have never made the cut before.

Partly agree, but I am 100% convinced that this will not be the same case as USA, where the placement of their delegate was 100% must. I started watching Miss Universe in 1994 and since then USA was not selected only twice - and in both cases the delegates were more deserving than the many of those who placed in other years.

In am not saying that US delegates were never deserving, I loved many of them, such as Shawnae Jebbiah (killer catwalk) or Kandace Krueger (such refreshingly positive attitude), but I saw many undeserving US delegates making the cut. On the other hand, US delegates had big advantage in interview rounds not only due to same language as most of judges, but also the same or very similar "american" mindset, while some other delegates might not be able to show how eloquent they actually are in foreign language.

Btw. - the ones who don't remember 90's Miss Universe are pageant greenhorns >:) :D/
