After the victory of India in Miss Universe, how did the country receive her win? Was her victory celebrated in India?

As far as I know, after the pageant, she flew back to India to have her first homecoming. Her second homecoming will be held later in the year - she is now in New York, which is her official residence for the year.

India has slowly been regaining their powerhouse status at Universe. I think her win will bring Universe mania back to India.

She seems to be the most adored winner in many years. Most people are happy for her win.

When will Puerto Rico win? They have not been winning since the Trump era, which favors trashy girls like Zuleyka and favors host country like in 2001, ended.

That's good! Im happy to hear that they are celebrating the win of Harnaaz.
Correct me if Im wrong, but India is generally a Miss World country (British influence + More Winners).

I just wonder how the country is celebrating her victory.

Seeing Nadia of Paraguay getting a warm homecoming is also heartwarming. It seems like her placement is also recognized

Her official homecoming is slated for sometime in 2022 only and in interview she mentioned she will be meeting the country's PM.

Barely. The nation is preoccupied with COVID-19 and Omicron, with new restrictions on public movement increasingly being done in major cities in the past month.

National interest in pageantry seems to have faded away after the historic 2000 wins at Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Asia Pacific. A colleague here once told me that the the triumphs of India in the 1990s (and 2000) helped ensure that the Western cosmetic industry entered India. Today, India is entrenched as one of the largest markets for global cosmetic companies, even as the younger generations care little about pageantry. For them, pageant winners become faces in Bollywood, where their exposure is a lot greater.

Agree, her win is very widely acknowledged, reported and appreciated. But we as a nation are beyond pageants. Modern icons of India are entrepreneurs (We have the third largest number of Unicorns in the world), Sportsmen (We had our best ever Olympic at Tokyo) and People of Indian Origins who are becoming CEOs of Fortune 500 and silicon valley companies....maybe even next Prime Minister of the UK (Rishi Sunak is a frontrunner)

Even Bollywood isn't the draw it once was. We will never be Pageant crazy country. But a winner will get his/her dues and credit. Even Manushi's win didn't cause any frenzy like the 90s

to answer your question, yes Harnaaz's victiry was received well by news medias and people. Countless newspapers and news channels reported it. Her first appearance was kept discrete by the national org due to covid related security issues.

The omicron scare is on the rise. Secondly almost all channels interviewed her. It was a week long media week. Many A Lister celebrities and even the iconic Sadguru congratulated her. :-O Even Manushi didnt get such appreciation. Anyways talking about the grand homecoming. They have planned it for a later date in 2022.

She had to quarantine herself for 7 days as per protocol in India after her arrival and had only two weeks hardly in between to fly off to NewYork. And one week allocated to media week and left with hardly one week to prepare for her journey. Currently she is in NYC.

I also agree she will get a nice big Punjabi homecoming later this year. Right now we are in a midst of a third wave(which so far hasn't as deadly thankfully). But after what we went thru in the second wave it's better to be safe than sorry.

Very well received but objectively, it was a shadow of Manushi's win. Hard to say why. For one, she has not had an official homecoming yet (but news cycles move on, so I think that was a mistake) and second, in a way Miss Universe in India is like Miss Universe in The Philippines - lots of pride and attention for the win but beyond pageant fans, it has not connected and everyone just wants the other crown.

For some odd reason this thread made me remember Ximena's vlog about her visit to India. When those two ladies were arguing and Ximena is just standing there like @-) 8-} I have to rewatch the vlog now lol

the only thing that Harnaaz hasn't received is a welcome parade. There was no time in between to hold such a great event. Have you seen how magnificient chandigarh welcomed Harnaaz after her Miss Diva crowning. Imagine the cheer and welcome. The same can happen in magnificent form again, but now there is this covid surge.

For those who really dont know, her homecoming and welcoming parade has not happened yet. Its slated for a later period in 2022.

And people love to see the alpha double victory again. That doesnt mean they value miss world more. Infact many fans were like win miss world later so that miss universe gets the whole limelight. I also want that to happen. Some miss world fanatics say otherwise. And thats not a collective opinion.
Miss World ended up being a mess this year and I dont think Julia will give the 7th crown soon. And if you look at the bundle of instagram pages you can see many has already forgotten miss world 2021. 8-} 8-}

Well, will disagree here. The win has been well received and well covered. Also, it's confirmed her official homecoming is slated for later this year where she mentioned she's very much interested to visit the Golden Temple and in one of the interviews spoke about meeting the PM as well.

I have not seen a Miss Universe of the recent winners reported on in the US as much as the current winner. She is in the new and news feeds almost daily
