Double V for Binibining Pilipinas

Postby Prozac » Tue Nov 23, 2021 11:32 pm

The Double V refers to the "V for victory" sign prominently displayed by countries fighting "for victory over aggression,
slavery, and tyranny," but adopts a second "V" to represent the double victory for African Americans fighting for freedom
overseas and at home.

The Double V for Binibining Pilipinas on the other hand refers to a double victory made recently by the back to back
win of Cindy Obesina - Miss Intercontinental 2021 and Maureen Montagne Miss Globe 2021.

Double V however didn't happen only in 2021 with Binibini delegates. We are here to set the record straight because it
looked like it is happening every three years.

2013 - Bea Rose Santiago - Miss International & Mutya Johanna Datul -Miss Supranational.
2015 - Pia Wurtzbach -Miss Universe & Ann Colis - Miss Globe
2018 - Catriona Grey - Miss Universe & Karen Gallman - Miss Intercontinental
2021 - Cindy Obesina - Miss Intercontinental & Maureen Montagne -Miss Globe

Well the year had not ended yet and we are on our quest for a triple V. Or what would be a better term for that? A
three-way sweep, awesome three-some. a trio of wins, a troika gain. a triumvirate of beauties?

Is this target possible? Or is our goal feasible and attainable? Or was it just some kind of fantasy wishing for one?
Or baka naman ... suntok sa buwan LANG!

It is possible guys ... at hindi suntok sa hangin lang. because Triple V. was already achieved by the Philippines. in
2013 Bea and Mutya won for Binibining Pilipinas and Megan Young won for Miss World Philippines.

As a country, the Philippines has already achieved a Three V and Binibining Pilipinas as an organization has Two V.'s
for the fourth time.

Winning creates ecstatic unceasing euphoria! And that's almost assured!

So what if the next Philippine girl competing halts the break and loses the momentum? Let's play the opposite scenario:-

Losing finds no lesser substitute. That's a given! On the other hand, Girl had given her all, she had enjoyed what she came for and found meaning in the experience. As such, it's no fair reason to sulk. There can only be one winner at a time and Filipino Girl can't win all the time. Our Girl fizzled out, it disappoints, but failing to capture the top plum shouldn't end the battle for her. With a rich experience trailing behind and the happy memories of a lifetime, equally rewarding opportunities, will present themselves in no time. Philippine Girl has a lot to live for and to accomplish in her journey onwards. Girl has to MOVE on to the next!

In the interim, if such a hiatus shall occur, a fresh new face takes pivot ... and the quest for more crowns continues ... Hope springs eternal. None is lost yet. So there!

If it happen that SamPan and Bea will halt the momentum of the title-downpour for the Philippines and will just settle
for a Top 20 maybe or a runner-up spot, the candidates will just have to move on and we just have to be content with
what is given to us. There's no reason to sulk, what is important as you said is that they enjoy their journey and meet
new friends from other countries.

If both will win who are we to ignore it. We will try to be magnanimous with our win and there is no need to gloat or
blow our horns.

But one thing is sure that is one record for Binibining Pilipinas that is too hard to follow.

Other countries who also experienced double victories are:

For India
2000 - Lara Dutta - Miss Universe and Priyanka Chopra - Miss World
1994 - Sushmita Sen- Miss Universe and Aiswarya Rai - Miss World

For Venezuela
1981 - Irene Saez- Miss Universe and Pilin Leon -Miss World

I am not sure though if both India and Venezuela won these titles for the same organization. Or it can two
organizations just like the case of the Philippines attaining Three V.'s for BPCI and Miss World Philippines in 2013

2001 was the first time Bb Pilipinas achieved such feat when
MICHELLE REYES won Miss Tourism International and
MARICAR BALAGTAS won Miss Globe International.

I am aware of these two Xamurai, and yes a win is a win, and I am with you, But my friends stopped me
from including them, because in their viewpoint the two mentioned pageants in their estimate were minor pageants.
They even blamed me for not explaining that the pageants that we meant are the Big Four pageants and maybe we can
add Miss Globe, Miss Supranational, Miss Grand International. Miss Intercontinental, on the basis of longevity, popularity,
number of candidates, production values, and fan support.

Actually, their bone of contention was that Alexandria Faith Garcia also won Miss Aura International 2021, and if we
include that win we already achieve the threefold win that we were discussing above, and we don't want a roaring
backlash from readers for sounding too cocky that we included first time or never-heard pageants to bolster the
number of titles won.

And if you remember my other thread "Philippines Last Quarter Bonanza, Philippines already assembled modesty
aside 10 titles in that report and we don't want to offend & enrage the readers if we include that because we have
to admit they are new and they still have to prove themselves. So we just thought we have to limit the sphere by
including only the major and the popular ones.

To Michelle Reyes and Maricar Balagtas, you brought pride and honor to our country, and we appreciated that. If your
names were not on the list, it doesn't mean that we belittle your effort and your achievements. Not all countries are
participating in minor pageants, And to be fair to them, we didn't include your wins for fear that the number will balloon
(even though records are showing our claims) and people will misconstrue that for something.

Alexandra was not sent by BPCI.

The title of the thread is "Double V for Binibining Pilipinas" so I assumed that it pertains to double victories achieved by Bb. Pilipinas within a single pageant year.

This is wishful thinking. But at the back of my mind, I hope that will come sooner ... rather than later. And I am
trying to contain myself from the excitement and the prospect that it will soon take shape.

Triple V was achieved by Philippines but under the different organization.

Last 2013 by three Big Five queens. Bea, Mutya and Megan.

If I am correct, This is the only feat achieved by a country in Big Five Pageants....
PHILIPPINES is a legit Powerhouse in Beauty Pageant. Haters, deal with it!
