Exactly. Fans need to understand that in the end that while she can represent Filipinos if she even wore that sash, it’s New Zealand’s gain and not the Philippines. If Beatrice places lower than Victoria, it’s New Zealand’s gain, even if she is a member of the Filipino diaspora (and as you said it, it will be more bashing and bashing from the fans that no longer trust Miss Universe Philippines)! This is why Katrina wants to represent the Philippines via this competition, given that it’s still different to represent the Philippines, especially that Katrina represented the United States in Miss Supranational.
Plus, I would rather see Maori people represent New Zealand in Miss Universe, since that’s their native land.

Heto ang isa sa napakatangang opinion na nabasa ko. Bakit sabaw na sabaw ang utak ng mga katulad ng bayot na ito?
That post was just cringeworthy
That person who posted it has to realize that when Victoria chooses to represent New Zealand, she is ONLY representing New Zealand. She does represent the Filipinos, but she does not represent the Philippines, since it’s Beatrice Luigi who was chosen to do so. If the Philippines wants to win it’s fifth crown, Beatrice Luigi has to do that, not her. Any win by Victoria is a gain by New Zealand and not the Philippines, regardless of whether the Miss Universe Philippines organizers act as her coaching and make-up team. This makes me remember Osmel Sousa, who both coached Amelia Vega and Mariangel Ruiz; when Amelia won over Mariangel, he stopped offering his coaching services to foreigners.
Plus, I would rather see her competing for that pageant and working hard for that title, like so many other women who do it on the Miss Universe stage. Appointments do happen but at least Victoria realized that she would rather represent the Philippines, just like what Katrina had been dreaming too. It’s still different to represent a country where your ancestors came from over a place you just immigrated too because of that country’s economy and opportunities.
