Putera Indonesia, an annual national male pageant in Indonesia kicks off in Pekanbaru. Founded in 2006 & produced by Raymond Djambek of Melayu International Production, the organization is a recognized national franchise holder of international pageants. With a slogan "integrating, informing, and inspiring younger generations," its titleholders & aspirants aim to be agents of change in the society.
Coming from various provinces in the country, the Putera Indonesia contestants will be involved in several activites & events. Yesterday, they visited Buluh Cina Village which is located at Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province and about 25 km from Pekanbaru City. Designated as Tourism Village by the Government of Riau Province, the village is surrounded by a tropical rain forest and is divided by the Kampar Kanan River.
The partipants learned about the conservation & preservation of the Natural Tourism Park through an educational talk by Mr. Mulyo Hutomo and Mr. Setyo, heads of BBKSDA Riau Resources Natural Conservation Authority in Indonesia. They also took a time out and enjoyed elephant-ride & boating at the lake.
One point of great historical experience for this year's Putera Indonesia is their visit to the palace of the Siak Sri Indrapura kingdom, in Siak Sri Indrapura Regency. It's 125 kilometers from the provincial capital, Pekanbaru – about two and a half hour drive. The contestants had the opportunity to enter the palace, which has been renovated several times and is very well maintained, is full of old relics of this long and glorious kingdom which once ruled over the whole of present-day Riau. Everyone enjoyed taking photos of the collection of properties of the last sultants & the entire area which has a sophisticated mix of Malay, Arabic and European architecture.
