Any event can cause death.

But it doesn't mean we should just stay stagnant. Move forward we have to but with caution and prudence. Innovate if you must but you have to move forward.

for pageants that is why I prefer virtual events over postponement or cancellation.

they say virtual is boring but I found postponement or cancellation more boring as fcuk.

and more boring if you see pageant queens like Toni-Ann and Sireethorn extend their unproductive reign. Nakakaumay.

At least in Miss Earth we saw new queens crowned like Lindsay and Destiny.

So if the Covid pandemic will extend until 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025 and pageants like Miss International will continue to postponed their pageant, for sure they will be passe and will lose their popularity in later years.

Although I commend Miss Universe and Miss Supranational for conducting live shows without any problems. Miss World and Miss International, (even Miss Earth) should learn from the organizing committee of Miss Universe and MS.

Another stupid question post. Why must you ask if we are to value life over an event or a pageant for that matter?

The most ridiculous question I have ever read so far. During these trying times, the answer should be common sense. If the events involve prolonged close human interaction, then it poses a threat kahit anong event pa yan. The pandemic wont postpone itself just because an event is about to transpire.

I do agree , a life is a life and with the current situation reducing face to face events would surely reduce the infection rates.

However, like people , these pageant organizations must adapt. Below are my observations and recommendations.

STAY TRADITIONAL
You can also look at how traditional pageant organisations handled the years we had COVID19.
Miss World Organization, the oldest among the Big 5, didn't have any pageant held for two years.
Miss International which is also a very traditional and formal pageant already skipped two pageant years.

INNOVATE
Look at Miss Earth, it is an innovation to do a virtual pageant route and reduced face to face interactions between delegates, the risks were only on the people at the back of the event itself, director, editors, IT staff, all those people working for Miss Earth . It does not mean a virtual pageant , production team can also just stay virtual, that would be impossible. You need a set, a telecats, hiring of hosts, logistics, They reduced the risk by half just because its only the production team that has high risk of being infected by COVID19.

ADAPT
For Miss Universe and Miss Gwand International, they did not skipped any pageant year but instead they became flexible and adapted to the situation (e.g. current COVID19 rates in that location , accepting candidates from high risk areas) what they did was to move the date or location to lower the risk . First on the movement of the usual coronation nights for example Miss Gwand does it every October but it has to be moved to accomodate candidates to at least prepare, take COVID19 tests, vaccinated (some countries were already on the roll-out phase that time) and be quarantined in BKK before any start of activities. They also did preliminary activities via online and youtube videos and this I like. I do hope the two traditional pageants could also try this gradually if they can't do a full virtual pageant like Miss Earth.

Then with the movement to a secure, lesser risk country with high vaccination acceptance and vaccination numbers like Thailand and Israel. I like the idea that they had the delegates quarantined inside their designated hotel rooms first before starting activities and i would recommend like what Miss Gwand International did to have one delegate per room.
By doing so, it would also lessen contact and the duration of contact with another person.

Unfortunately, this room sharing is a weakness right now on traditional pageants like Miss World and even on the flexible Miss Universe. I also would like to recommend to still have FFP2 masks on even during rehearsals and a representative from the goverment health department inspecting if rules are being followed or not.

Learn from MS? LOL. MS was jist lucky that when they conducted their delayed 2020 edition, COVID already plateaued.

that's exactly the hidden meaning behind my comment. we just have to move on and adapt. extremists just want people to "stay home save lives"...

MS was really very strict with the girls every time they were out of the hotel. You probably just didn't know how the girls were scolded when they broke protocols. That's because the Malopolska government was involved. The risk of an outbreak was really avoided to its maximum level.
