Ratings: Ms France UP; Ms Universe DOWN

Postby sephie » Thu Dec 16, 2021 9:45 am

After the recently concluded Ms France and Ms Universe pageants, let us discuss how the outcome is for both contests

Miss France 2021
- Audience Share: 42.3%
- 7.3M viewers

Miss Universe 2021
- Ranks 3rd last Sunday
- 2.7M viewers

Trends:
a. Ms France continues to increase viewership because of production and entertainment value
b. Majority of Ms France viewers are aged 50 and below (this is astonishing given that millenials hardly watch tvs)
c. Ms Universe all time low despite grand staging of 70th edition

I think Ms Universe should learn how Ms France implements 1) entertainment value- you really look forward on what they will produce 2) public vote- there is really engagement

Let's be honest Ms Universe is a bit boring given the unknown musical performers, same sashes penetrating the semi finals and emphasis on back stories. Im not sure if Ms Universe considers TV viewership as a relevant matrix for their performance but I know Fox considers this for their staging

When Miss Universe host announces the semifinalist, it should not be interrupted with individual personal experiences. It must be announced one after the other so it doesn't hold us with our excitement. Casual interview could be done separately. Then, more Bikinis for worldwide audience to see their fit body. More advertising that Miss Universe is coming to Fox just like what NBC and CBS did before.

Miss Universe has lost credibility, in the 15 finalists always the same nations and moreover from third world countries, the Americans would prefer to see the beautiful European in the final

Maybe France still hasn't shifted to streaming services & internet TV while US is already shifted to streaming services and every TV ratings in the US dropped significantly.

Miss France’s productions remind me of the 80s and 90s editions of Miss Universe for a good reason - they make sure that they have a lot of costume-wearing and performances, along with yearly themes while still retaining a musical score for the eliminations.

Sadly, the MUO can only allow a people’s choice winner as the initiative of the public during the pageant; they want the rest of the judging to the judges alone. Add the fact that these production numbers take two weeks of rehearsals, and can be exhaustive. Given the current situation, it is hard to do this when the number of delegates they have exceed 30 (Miss France usually has 30-31 delegates per year; next year, they will be 31 because a region that withdrew this year will return).
No more bashers in 2022, please.

Also, watch Dani Walker's video to know more on how bashers can kill with their words.

I think how the competition/ energy of Miss Universe has remained the same since 2010.
it hasn't evolved.

I think miss france brought in fun and excitement.

I know the guest performer Jojo and "A Little Too Late" is my favorite song. It maybe not that new but it was a big hit in Europe and when I was still in NZ.
Maybe it's you who needs to learn more about entertainment productions.

Americans are tired of woke kinemerut spewed by their entertainment industry. Look at the ratings of their awards and sports show and notice the pattern. 8->

But Miss France is broadcasted on Europe's second largest TV channel (after the BBC). Trust and I believe they will NEVER let it go because it's a cash machine.

It’s unfortunate that the Miss Universe viewership in the US has continued to go down over the past decade. I do hope this hemorrhaging of viewers stop soon. But I’m not sure if the org can really do anything at this point to increase its viewership here. Americans are just not into pageants anymore.

I won’t be surprised if the majority of those 2.7 million viewers this year came from Latino and Asian households.

Yes, I think considering the logistical concerns (90+ candidates of Ms U vs 30+ of Ms France), there must be an update on the presentation of the contest.
I know Ms France, under the leadership of Madame Fontenay was also decreasing in interest (it was a trend then together with Ms Italia, Espana, etc.) but when they repackaged the show, the contest was able to regain and sustain its popularity

It would be sad to see Ms Universe to be broadcasted in cable tv

And I believe these numbers for France are only for the domestic viewers, although lots of people are looking for a way to watch it every year.

Seeing the same countries achieving high placements without understanding WHY (no scores or whatnot) and putting some minor countries in order to create an illusion that it is open to new countries? That's the reason why people get tired of watching Miss Universe, which is supposed to be the most entertaining pageant event every year!
