We're only days away from the general rehearsal so, with seemingly no confirmation at all from the organization, we can now assume that the rumors are indeed true - animadora estelar Maite Delgado will not be presenting at this year's edition; allegedly, this has something to do with the sanctions that the US has imposed on Raul Gorrin, president of Globovision. Gorrin, which is very close to the current embattled president, was pointed as the leader of complex currency and money laundering deals, including bribing treasury officials for contracts to buy dollars at inflated exchange rates which he then resold to the blackmarket.
Pure conjecture but Viviana Gibelli has been rumoured to be this year's main presenter. When asked pointedly about this in interviews, both Prince Julio and Rafa Ingannamorte played coy.
All Prince confirmed was that there will be 3 female presenters, 1 male co-presenter for the color commentary and 1 other male presenter doing the social media updates.
Juan Silva, the choreographer responsible for last edition's stunning opening (I've watched clips of the 2018 opening dozens of times and I still can't believe how not even one candidate tripped on the stage set's narrow steps while dancing and lip synching to the Miss Earth himno -- goes to show you that Venezuelan Misses are really in a different league) is back at the helm. (Actually, check that. A few candidates did fall and either twisted their ankle or suffered bruises/scratches during the run-through and the final dress rehearsal.)
With the passing away of one of the founding team leaders, Productor General Juan Pineda, it would be intersting to see what direction the production will be heading this year. The new man in charge is Oswaldo Montanez; he's the fat guy you always see in the fringes of the camera frame in some episodes of the behind the scenes series.
As Miss Supranational Venezuela will be crowned 4 days before the gran noche final, only 29 candidates will compete on August 25th so Miss Earth Venezuela will essentially be missing one state, which is a first and kind of weird. For the first cut, instead of 12 as in last year, it will be 15 this time around so more than half of the candidates will move to next round as confirmed by Prince in a TV interview.
Where on earth is Alyz? Can the earthlings who are connected with her on Instagram or Facebook stalk or message her and find out if she's in Caracas at all at the moment?
