Steve Harvey: I agree with Nia. He s a great host with his show but he is not cut for Miss Universe hosting. His ghetto antics n jokes are not for Miss Universe.

COMPLETELY AGREE ABOUT STEVE HARVEY'S HOSTING ESPECIALLY ABOUT HOW HE TREATED THE LADIES DURING INTERVIEWS.

I have met Nia Sanchez in person and she is genuinely such a nice person, the most beautiful girl in the world? No, and I think her valley girl accent is annoying as hell but she is a kind person and I think it absolutely comes across in her videos and she has a way of critiquing where it comes across as nice but still good feedback. I agree and disagree on some things though I completely agree on Steve Harvey and looking back there were so many awkward moments with him this year especially with the mic, his timing was so off and I noticed the "Costa Rica" thing too, wtf. But I disagree with the fact that it was "so hard to choose" from the Top 3, maybe with listening to Lu Sierras commentary it was obvious that Philippines was gonna win LMAO and I do not agree with the theory about the girls ranking in the Top 5 and about the 3rd girl being the highest scorer so far, if that was the case even if Thailand bombed her answer she would have been in the Top 3 in 2017 but that was not the case.

Miss Puerto Rico: I love her too but I disagree with Nia. She looked better in the preliminary. She lost her spark n seems like someone put some paste on her hair during final night. :)>-

I noticed as well that Steve was shutting down USA’s joke but I also noticed that he was really empathetic toward USA maybe because of the issue. He made it a point to tell USA that she is making a great job, hang tight or something to that effect so that is a plus point for me.

I disagree with Nia about Puerto Rico, I ranked her 2nd in my final hot pick but girl looked out of place in the top 5. Everyone looked great except her. I think she stole Canada’s spot. But I do agree with her about South Africa, I thought she had a poor performance in Long gown which could have cost her the top 5 placement.

Also disagree about anyone could win after the top 3. Because Catriona obviously had it the moment she answered the final 3 question and sealed it after the final walk.
Everything is so finite. But don't you think that that's what makes our time, at specific moments, so important?

Miss Philippines was the ONLY one in the Top 5 whose answer was direct to the point and not pageant patty. It was OBVIOUS she was going to make it to the Top 3.

When Miss Philippines responded to the Top 3 question, speaking directly from experience and phrasing her response perfectly, it was as clear as day that no one else could hold a candle to her. There was no way exotic South Africa or Miss Wax Museum could come up with a better answer.

True enough, Miss South Africa, who should have been eliminated after her disastrous gown performance, merely repeated in the final Q&A the pageant patty “love” and “humanity” answer she already gave in the Top 5 Q&A.

Nia’s correct that doing the continental grouping is wrong. She’s incorrect that Steve Harvey shaded Venezuela. Miss Wax Museum was the one who left Steve Harvey on stage when SHE should have waited for his cue to leave the stage; that was why Steve gave that comical look.

Nia was also incorrect in downplaying USA’s role in that whole Mean Girls drama. Sarah’s comment on Cambodia was indeed taken out of context: she wasn’t shading Cambodia, but was actually imagining how hard it must be for her to not speak English while nobody else in the world spoke Cambodia’s language. But Sarah WAS totally shading Vietnam for “pretending to understand English” during their conversations when Vietnam didn’t. Sarah definitely DESERVED to clap, considering she was NOT a strong candidate to begin with the moment she stepped foot in Bangkok.

Nia was also totally incorrect about Puerto Rico being “perfect.” Soooooo far from it. Kiara looked good only on two occasions: Thai Night and the After Party. She was a TOTAL MESS in between (and between the time she arrived in Thailand and Thai Night, if we were to count that as well). Her hair was a mess in both the prelims and finals, her makeup made her look old and dry, her frame looked skeletal in her swimsuit, and her gown was ill-fitting and looked very generic (did her org actually pack a gown for her???).

From her much-maligned wardrobe throughout the pageant to her bizarre answer in the Q&A (where she jumped from the disconnected “freedom of the press” to caring about people), it was clear she was NOT Miss Universe material.

In fact, although Miss Vietnam’s looks could get quite polarizing and her English was far from good (at least she didn’t engage in “cheating by using an interpreter even if she could speak English” strategy), Vietnam’s charm and personality just kept shining through and I would bet my ass that pageant fans would be totally supportive if she had made it as far as 1st RU. Can’t say the same for the very overrated yet underperforming Puerto Rico.

Agree! Thought I was the only one who thought Puerto Rico really looked out of place in the Top 5; guess I'm not. I don't know, but for me, she looks untidy when the Top 5 were standing right next to each other. Even her stunning smile cannot save her at that point. I was actually surprised when she was called in the Top 5.

Was surprised about Puerto Rico's inclusion as well; her styling was wrong and she just didn't have spark that night. I didn't know about Miss Canada's lies back then, and I thought she would make the Top 5 instead.

Steve Harvey had this confusing thing with the mic, but he wasn’t being condescending to Venezuela. Venezuela didn’t follow protocol, which threw Steve off.

He does need to watch his expressions. I remember him having a constantly strange look on his face (weird stares) in 2015 toward the contestant and interpreter every time there was an interview.

I think next year is the last year on Steve Harveys contract but here is an idea, if the MUO is all about womens empowerment why not have a woman host the pageant after he is done? I think she generally hates pageants but she praised Catriona and nothing is impossible but Tyra Banks would be a great host. She is the "girl boss" IMG is trying to promote and has hosted ANTM and Americas Got Talent.

If not her, what about Cat Deeley? She hosts So You Think You Can Dance which is also on FOX and is British which would make the telecast even more international or even Fergie, she performed at Miss Universe in 2017 and now hosts a singing competition on FOX and is pretty well known. If Mel B (who I also thought was great) hosted in the past, I do not see why she cannot host.

Cat or Fergie would be more logical but any of the above would do so much better and be more empowering than fucking Steve Harvey.

A woman or gay man host would be great! Jonathan of Queer Eye watched this year's Miss Universe based on his Twitter. I want him to host - entertaining and modern!

OMG I can totally see Tyra Banks hosting Miss Universe. I believe she can do an amazing job.

The Mean Girls trio (USA, Colombia, and Australia) got so much hate (deservedly so) and Nia was very aware of the brouhaha, so I don’t really get why she was even remotely surprised that the bitches were wildcards at best.

She shouldn’t turn a blind eye on Sarah’s bad antics just because she holds the USA sash. [-X We’re in the IMG era now. Bitchiness can’t prevail!

The only great thing about Steve is that he knows the climactic way of calling the countries of finalists. Other than that, his jokes are always the same, and it was wrong for him to have this selective treatment during interviews.

Of course she will brush it aside! Imagine the wrath of the fans if a Filipina beauty queen made a negative remark about Catriona's perfomance? Nia had to be fair but she didn't want to look like an asshole. Obviously she respects her fellow Miss USA sisters and she doesn't want to be this "negative nancy" in critiquing the girls. Just look at the previous Canadian queens who made video reviews, it was so wrong that they were so shady to Marta this year.
