Very specific. I like your points. Now, that should be tge standard in pageantry. Specially in Miss Universe. Let us not send a delegate that is "pwede na". We are in the 2020's where total package should be.
I remember our dark era, when I lose hope to see Pinay Miss Universe crowned. Then viola! Pinay won the crown, not just one.
Hoping to see another in the next 5 years.
Thanks Mrgary!

But how come we did well from 1972 up to 1975 at the Miss Universe? We even won the second Miss Universe crown through Margie Moran in 1973.

Because those queens were educated before Martial Law. There was free dissemination of information via the free press, people were relatively better informed, and the quality of education in the Philippines was higher. The candidates from 1990 to 2009 grew up during Martial Law or shortly after the reconstruction of our democracy. Marcos made Pilipino the medium of instruction in public schools, and nationalism was emphasized more than the development of critical thinking skills. Dictators do not want subjects who can think for themselves, and sadly, Marcos was not an exception.

How come Janine wasn't able to snatch the crown from Olivia Culpo when she had the better answer?

BEC JURIS TUGONON CAN'T BEAT THE UNIVERSALLY APPEALING FACE OF OLIVIA CULPO!..OLIVIA'S FACE IS SIMPLY FLAWLESS!..NO PIMPLES, NO PORES, AQUILINE NOSE, NOT CROSS EYED. HER FACE IS LIKE MAMA MARY!

Philippines sent Rachel Peters and Maxine Medina both with face values, no win too.
It’s not the face that counts, it’s the complete package.
Yes, the face helps. But it’s not all that.
Again, it’s been proven time and time again!
pacifico falafoxy wrote:TBH, Cat was not the prettiest, face wise but she was cute enough, or say she’s pretty enough. But she has all the other qualities that made her stand out. However, Rachel and Cat were at the same level face wise, but ended up at different spots.
Many Philippine reps were not the prettiest but they managed to get higher placements. It’s the whole, not the parts.
