I’ll start: I wish they’d notice the beautiful reps of the Nordic countries (specifically SWEDEN and DENMARK) and the statuesque ladies of Africa (KENYA, NIGERIA). I’d like them to pay attention to CAYMAN ISLANDS and the less-popular South American countries (such as EL SALVADOR). Of course, I’m hoping that the reps from these countries up their game to start with.
For the latter, I’m so tired of seeing the overrated & lackluster reps from the USA and the plastic beauties of VENEZUELA; I wish IMG would give their placements a rest.
Which are yours?
Juan Sebastian wrote:Its not a matter of what countries are/are not being noticed, it is a matter of who is sending strong girls and who you want to see step it up because sash factor while still present to a degree has way less of an impact than it did in the Trump era.
For instance Ireland now has a placing streak, 40% of this years Top 10 come from countries that have not had much success at Miss Universe (Vietnam, Curaçao, Costa Rica & Nepal, Nepal who placed for the first time on only their second year competing), Kenya placed for the first time in 2016 and made the Top 6, Haiti was first runner up in 2016 and Vietnam made the Top 5 this year which has never happened and there is plenty more.
Some countries like Colombia, Venezuela and Philippines and more consistently train girls amazingly leading to strong contenders and great results which is why they continuously place high year after year. Yeah there is some favoritism and USA has not been sending great girls this decade but Miss USA will almost always place partially because of favoritism but also partially because she won under exactly what IMGs standards are.
So the question should really be, countries you'd like to send strong contenders in 2019 and to answer your question, Europe needs to step it the f**k up, I would have loved to see Great Britain in the Top 10 last year but it was laughable when none of the 5 from Europe made the Top 10. Vaimalama Chaves is stunning and hopefully will go to Miss Universe so thats one but France is the only European country that has been getting the full package consistently.
I also love how African countries are getting more and more exposure under IMG and I wish there would have been more Africans in the Top 20 last year but I want them to continue gaining momentum and I think another black Miss Universe is near. Lastly, I want Jamaica to continue their streak, Jamaica I also feel is near their first Miss Universe crown in the next few years and hopefully they send a stunner in 2019!

For me, Malaysia needs to be noticed. They have been stepping up bit by bit, but they just need a boost like Vietnam.

Miss Universe doesn't give a f**k my country. I'm so sad.
It's been over a decade.
I don't need a damn host country factor either.
And MUKO needs to crown the worthy winner who isn't lazy like Jihyun
I want my country constantly place but I don't expect much.
