The wild card is her last resort, and the push of Thailand people to back her up. Well good luck to her.
Only Areeya Shumshai ( i hope i am right with her name) was i think worthy of placement during Miss Universe 94.

Only the popular voting can break the "host curse" for Thailand? Among the Asian nations who hosted the Miss Universe pageant, only Thailand and Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) failed to place in the semifinals. Philippines placed all 3 pageants (1974, 1994, 2016) at their home turf while Hong Kong (1976), Korea (1980), Singapore (1987) and Vietnam (2008) placed once at their home turf.

One thing is if it was Maria ( Last year rep) would represent this year, then there will be a big chances she will get the crown. or maybe runner up to SA. just my two cents.
However, during the 90s' only Areeya Shumshai ( i hope i am right with her name) was i think worthy of placement during Miss Universe 94.
