Miss World Welcomes Transgenders.
The Miss World organisation under President Julia Morley has never discriminated against transgenders. Miss World continues to evolve with its time; making it the most relevant of its kind. The rule that 'one needs to be a natural born female to participate' has been eliminated since Mrs.Morley took over the company from her late husband, Eric Morley in 2000. In many countries' it is the local MW organizer stipulation not to allow transgenders; disregarding the international MW rule completely! However, as per Miss World organisation, it isn't their right to inform Miss World national franchises how to approach their selection process. Same with rivalry beauty contest, Miss Universe.
Angela Ponce, the first transgender that will be competing for Miss Universe 2018, once competed for Miss Spain/World 2015 where Mireia Lalaguna Royo won. Mireia later went on to win the first Miss World crown for Spain. Julia Morley in 2015 had accepted Angela Ponce request to compete... Miss World organisation does not want its brand to be associated with any controversy considering it has the most controversial history of any international pageant - from bombings, religious protest clashes and hundreds being killed...
We wish Angela (the first transgender to compete in an international pageant) all the best at the upcoming Miss Universe 2018.
