Although in 1998, both competitions were held in the very same venue but in different months (Miss USA in March, Miss Teen USA in August).
When they first announced that both Miss USA and Miss Teen USA will be this May 2018, personally, at first it was an awful decision for MUO and IMG to have the two pageants at the same time. I wasn't so sure of the venue as well. I somehow wished they could've hosted in other state or if in Louisiana, they'll go back to Baton Rouge (2014 was the best Miss USA production in YEARS, and 2015 was a good follow up).
But the good news is, they are going outside Las Vegas, and I realized, having the two pageants concurrently was a good enough decision.I just hope that despite just a week of events, the production for the finals night for both Miss Teen USA and Miss USA. Hoping to see a production that is VERY LOUISIANA, just like in 2014.
This decision also made me (and perhaps some of the fans) follow Miss Teen USA coverage this year better than the previous years. At least we can see the teens and their bigger sisters competing together, and perhaps we might see some future Miss USA contestants with the teens competing this year.
Upon seeing the contestants of both Miss USA and Miss Teen USA this year, I must say that both pageants have a strong batch, and it seems like there are a lot of competitive girls. Although I might agree to what others said that Miss Teen USA contestants are much stronger than Miss USA this year. I wonder if they'll have a similar format on the finals night, although last year, the format was totally different. Miss USA only had Top 10-5-3. While Miss Teen USA had Top 15, then Top 5.
MISS USA should bring back Top 15!
Upon seeing the girls in their social media accounts, send-off parties and reviewing their personal data, here are my current picks to be the next Miss USA and Miss Teen USA, and be part of MUO's class of 2018.
The nation's capital has the makings to be a new powerhouse at Miss USA. Their state director is doing a great job preparing the girls at Miss USA. With the back-to-back victory of Deshauna Barber and Kara McCullough, I personally think that Bryce Armstrong can make it a three-peat for DC, and being the 5th Miss USA of the nation's capital. It's quite obvious that she is facially an upgrade from the two, and that face alone can win another Miss USA for DC. Last year, just because of the face, I thought Kara will be Deshauna's successor, without even knowing how smart she is. And she did! With Bryce, I love her face, and you might agree with me or not, she has that vibe from Crystle Stewart. If she wins Miss USA, I consider her to be a very strong contender for Miss Universe because she really has this very beautiful face. She's also an entrepreneur, so there's no problem with her when it comes to presenting herself to the public. Although I haven't heard her yet that much when it comes to interviews and answering questions, I'm sure Bryce will give another solid performance on the Miss USA stage. Yes, I have a lot of favorites to the crown, but Bryce captured my heart and I'll be the most happy if she'll be: "Bryce Armstrong, USA" in Miss Universe.
Alternate picks: South Carolina, Nevada, Florida, Louisiana and Arkansas, but still DC for me for the win.
The power of B! If my pick for Miss USA is named Bryce, my pick for Miss Teen USA is named Britney! The moment I saw her winning her state title in Nevada, she looks like she already won Miss Teen USA. My only concern is that she looks shorter than the reigning queen, Sophia Dominguez-Heithoff. With all honesty, Miss Teen USA is very unpredictable so I don't know how she'll perform on the bigger stage, but I'm getting good vibes from her. If Nia Sanchez got the first Miss USA for Nevada upon pageant's return to Louisiana in 2014, Britney might get the first Miss Teen USA for Nevada upon pageant's return to Louisiana as well
Alternate picks (they are so stunning it was quite hard for me to pick): New York (She should join Miss USA!), Oklahoma, Illinois and Alabama
