Correction, Nina: It was never The Philippines that claimed they're the "New Venezuela" but only Mdme. Stella Marquez de Araneta. The Filipino fans have always been supportive to Venezuelan candidates even during the dark days of Philippine pageantry. The Filipinos derived inspiration from Venezuela in mastering the art of pageantry so please do not get the story twisted.

I do not know how Nina concluded that Pia and Megan were weak titleholders when, in fact, MUO created a title for Pia as the very first "Miss Universe Ambassador" for being the best Miss Universe titleholder thus far. In regard to Megan, MWO owner Julia Morley even tagged her not as Miss World 2013 but as "Miss World Forever". Julia even extended Megan's contract with MWO after her reign in 2013 and up to now, Megan still continues to host the annual pageant since 2014. Megan also raised more than US$2M for the organisation that by the time the 2014 pageant commenced, Julia told the candidates that whoever would succeed Megan had a big shoe to fill in. In light of these, would you kindly elaborate how you came to the conclusion that the winners from the Philippines were weak titleholders, please, Nina?

It is actually very amusing to see some Ricans, Trinis, Nicaraguans stomp their “expertise” here and namedrop Venezuela when their own candidates tend to clap horribly in pageants in recent years.

Nicaragua trained with Katy Pulido in Miami which is very different but most importantly we've never named drop them before. (There has only been 3 girls in our history to train with Katy anyway, the last being in 2009).
But you know what is actually amusing and histerical may i add. You people live in this fantasy world where you think your country has gained so much and that its on the eye of MUO when everything is ALL MADE UP ON THIS FORUM! I love misso because it's global and very fast on updates but may i remind you that it's not a forum just for the delusional followers in your country. I really wish you people get a reality check when visiting other forums and see what people really think of your country and the fact that it has gained nothing!

Pageant delusion affects everyone. Filipinos and latinos alike. But sadly, some Latinos, especially Nicaraguans, has far way big delusions about their status.
Philippines gained nothing? You sure about that? Where were you hiding the last 10 years? Hiding/riding Venezuala’s cloak maybe?

1. BPCI sent Miriam Quiambao to train at beauty school in Venezuela under the guidance of Osmel Sousa for a week. The training focuses on make-up tutorial, passarella (walking), and speech. At the end of the Miss Universe 1999 she placed 1st Runner Up to Mpule Kwelagobe of Botswana.
