That is such good news because the big event will help small businesses regain their losses from the six-month absence of tourists on the island. Very good strategy.

Should it happen in the Philippines, I hope the telecast will showcase more of Filipino flavor. Incorporate something in the stage design that will say Miss Universe is in the Philippines.

Another fake news from DOT. November is a typhoon season in the Philippines so they need a closed venue for that and the biggest venue in Boracay is the Convention Center, which can only accommodate to about 2500 to 3k guests. Imagine how small it is for Miss Universe. How can they advertise Boracay if they cant get a good video because of bad weather. Unless the rehabilitation of Boracay is just fake news to accommodate construction of a bigger venue, which I doubt. It is possible if the final venue is Manila and Boracay is the official residence, but technically, it is still Manila.

Boracay is already an open secret to the world, and actually placed 1st in the most beautiful island in the world according to Conde Nast Traveler back in 2016. But this will blow the doors wide open as far as the tourism is concerned, possibly recouping all the financial losses incurred during its closure. Tourism is a solid, sustainable industry that will provide jobs for the unemployed and staging The Miss UNIVERSE pageant in it will be a win - win situation for all the business based in the said island, just as long as cleanliness and care for the environment is observed and enforced. And hopefully , the Filipino culture & flavor will take a spotlight in the proceedings as well.
The possible staging of the Miss Universe pageant here is for me, kinda reminiscent of Miss UNIVERSE 2001, where Denise Quinones was crowned in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, her motherland. But I wish that there will be no Filipino judges in the panel come Finals Night, as to erase certain doubts if ever Cat emerge victorious when the dust settles, unlike the case with Denise, where Marc Anthony & Dayanara Torres, her fellow countrymen were among the panel
of judges, bringing a certain shade of suspicion with her victory.

It's a NO for me, November is a typhoon/rainy month and I don't think so the girls will enjoy the Boracay, April-May is the best month holding pageant like Miss Universe is the best choice ..

Hosting Miss Universe during rainy and stormy season is a no for me. What if during that month of November another Yolanda- like typhoon would hit the country? Why in a rush to host Miss Universe?
The best date to host Miss Universe would be summer months of April and May. Sec. Teo and those willing to invest in the pageant should know that. Miss Universe and IMG should just accept first the offer of Hangzhou to host the pageant in September then Philippines will warmly host it by May 2019
Majority of pageant critics firing scathingly remarks and unleashing vilest of comments to some candidates, ironically, are not even beautiful themselves aesthetically and worst characterwise.

So what do you suggest? Should the Philippine tourism industry suffer just because half of the population is poor? If you have any other better idea than that of the government's big push to boost the tourism industry to improve the economy of the country,
then please let us all know. That'd be great.
TANGA KA!!! THE PAST ADMINISTRATION WAS ABLE TO INCREASE TOURIST ARRIVALS WITHOUT HOSTING THE BIG 2! IT WENT DOWN WITH THIS ADMINISTRATION. GETTING RID OF ALL AQUINO'S TRADEMARK THAT WAS VERY EFFECTIVE WAS A DUMB IDEA. AND, SPENDING A LOT OF MONEY TO HOST AN ACTIVITY THAT WILL NOT REALLY TRANSLATE TO INCREASE TOURIST ARRIVALS AFTER THE PAGEANT IS DUMBER! PUNYETA KANG TANGA KA! ISA PA YANG NAG LIKE!
You fired an opinion and expect all others to toe your line of thinking? Tether your horses while you still can, dude! Don't take offense if I happen to like Mrgary's take. After everything else that has been said, you're not the only person who has a monopoly of opinion on this matter. Lest you forget, this is, and has always been, a public forum. Everyone else has a say. And whatever that is that ails you, you can stop acting like a precocious 5-year old!

My gawd who the hell is Catrina? By the way, just a reminder in 2001 you're girl won in your hometurp
