Is Philippines done?

Postby Ian Sebastin » Wed Dec 06, 2017 8:49 am

After Miss Philippines flopped at Universe this year, many pageant fans are wondering what is next for the Philippines. Since, their historic win in 2015, the country has failed to crack the top five.

Is the new Asian Power House, Thailand?? Many experts are weighing and suggesting that Thailand is the new gem of Asia. Thailand has inched there way towards the crown over the last three years. This year, Thailand managed to place higher than the Philippines with a beauty that went unparalleled.

Many even question the win of Phia. Was her crown bought by the nation of the Philippines?

Either way, it is left to be said that the Philippines is no longer considered a pageant powerhouse. New nations such as Thailand and Colombia have become the leading ladies and the new power-houses.

Even Phia could not save the Philippines from flopping at Universe.

We have just won another place in the Top 10 list and it's our eighth year of being in that list. hahaha. And who knows, we may host the next pageant season again, putting my country, which is the Philippines, in the spotlight again. Which could mean another Top 10 finish for us.

THE PHILIPPINES IS THE BEAUTY PAGEANT POWERHOUSE!!!

Powerhouse or not, you can't deny the ENORMOUS support that our country give to our Misses Phillippines, be it Miss Universe, MW, ME, etc. That is the POWERHOUSE! That makes Philippines a strong SASH - independent from the performance of our candidates.

We are happy for Thailand. She could have walked away with the crown and it does not make us any less supportive of our own Rachel Peters. Did you see the Philippine delegation cheering for Miss Thailand during the Top 5? Again - this is the POWERHOUSE Pinoy Support.

We are happy for Colombia as much as we felt sorry when the crown had to be taken off from her only to be given to Pia (tha'ts the correct name, my dear!!!!).

Another proof that Philippines is a POWERHOUSE - is that we are welcoming the Miss Universe winners to our soil - with red carpet treatment. Did you see the PINK Miss U limousine???? Where else will Miss U be treated like that?

The only person bitter here is YOU - for you are singularly attacking the Philippines - when MOST OF US are content with our performance this year. And we are only looking forward to our new set of ladies to support.

And right now, the Miss Universe queens are in my country, which is the Philippines, and enjoying our world-renowned hospitality, including Iris Mittenaere and Demi Leigh Nel Peters, accompanied by the 2017 semifinalists and the MUO/IMG executives.

Colombia has always been a power house girl. dont get it twisted.
regarding the question if Pia or philippines bought the crown for Pia. Bitch please. MUO was just bought during the time by WME. do they even have fucking time to negotiate such dealings also the home base network of BPCI right now is ABS-CBN which is far more closely tied with Time-Warner despite of the existance of CNN in Ph. Do honestly thing FOX which is owned by 21st century fox would like to deal with people affiliated with Time-Warner? where is your common sense?

not mention the following year the fucking head of fox and wme hates the shit out of out current president for making comments about jews. to the point Fox WME-IMG breached their hosting contract in the Philippines. causing the delay of pageant to the point it was almost postponed. the Philippine contigency could have sued FOX but did not to because we are not assholes like you.

Now where does your proposition stand regarding the crown being bought?NOWHERE.

second being the GEM of ASIA.Not once we claimed to be that. we were always been the PEARL of the orient lol. Kidding aside.
thailand has one reputation and since the middle 2000s they always have claimed the best every year. and we all know that is not true. Maria cried the shit out because she knew there is no excuse to loose and all she could do is think of what might have been. Maria achieved more in Life when she competed compared to Porntip Bui Simon. and yet Bui won and Maria did not. that is painful.

a top 10 is not a flop... clapping is just ask that other territory that US owns. :)>-

You're right. 3 years in a row is such a feat but not enough to claim the title of the so_called beauty powerhouse. I don't think our time is over because we are destined to win another crown before your third.

I supported Maria. In fact I thought she will bring your 3rd crown. But if the boastful Thais (not all) claim that they are the best, move over a bit. Be humble. It wont hurt.

Fyi: most of the Filipinos in Axis supported Maria when Rachel was left out. So your wrath towards Filipinos is inadmissible...

Please. When Maxine made it to the top 6, that was already equal to a top 5 finish, except that, there was one more delegate in it because her edition's format was a 13-9-6-3.

And no, the Philippines isn't done yet unless all the trainers fail to give the best for the next winner. By the way, Colombia has been a powerhouse ever since, especially during the 1990s, when they were the 1st runner-up for 3 years (1992, 1993, and 1994). Thailand is on the way to becoming a powerhouse, although it is not yet a full powerhouse. It has yet to win its third Miss Universe crown and it hasn't placed much in Miss Universe either. If you were asking for another Asian powerhouse rather than the Philippines, it would be Japan.
No more bashers in 2022, please.

Also, watch Dani Walker's video to know more on how bashers can kill with their words.

The TS doesn't know how to do the Math, which OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS are you saying that Thailand edged the Philippines in Miss Universe? 2015 Ph (winner) - Thailand (top 10); 2016 Ph and Thailand (top 6); 2017 Thailand (top 5) - Ph (top 10). Do you know how to count years? or maybe you are already anticipating 2018 and 2019 that Thailand will place higher than Ph? :%)) :%)) :%)) Stupid my goodness, check your facts first :-@ :-@ :-@ :-@

8 straight Top 10 finish (meaning survived after the swimsuit round/1st semifinal round) is not an easy feat these days. When NBC era they expanded the number of semifinalists to 15 but there will be an elimination after each semifinal round. Since 2010, we never been eliminated after the swimsuit round for 8 straight years (Venezuela and USA were eliminated after the top 10 were announced in 2011, Brazil was eliminated after the top 9/10 was announced for 3 straight years [2014-2016]).

I think it is not a flop and we are continue to step up the game and break barriers in the world of pageantry.

Philippines' record at Big 5 pageants:
14 placements at Miss Earth
31 placements at Miss International
22 placements at Miss Universe
19 placements at Miss World
6 placements at Miss Supranational
Grand Total: 92 placements

Since 2010:
6 placements at Miss Earth
6 placements at Miss International
8 placements at Miss Universe (currently 8 straight years)
7 placements at Miss World (currently 7 straight years)
6 placements at Miss Supranational (currently 6 straight years)
Grand Total: 33/40 placements = 82.5%

Also, please check your facts. We just entered the Top 5/6 last 2016. Well, I shouldn't be surprised that you are supporting the land of bimbos since you're also one. =;)) =;)) :%)) :%))

i'm sorry, but i have to agree on this!! both Mareeya and Paweensuda were unstoppable during pre pageant and finals night! but they really bombed the Q&A part! i was so disappointed with Fahsai, i mean you don't know what Millenial is? gurl?! i supported you! :%(( same thing with Mareeya!

these 2 girls are living proof that beauty alone can't make you win!

as for Thailand, you can send stunning girls with lots of beautiful clothes, but if they can't answer simple questions in Q&A, then don't expect to win!

Thailand a powerhouse? Did any of their girls win one of the 4 major pageants recently?
Indonesia just did. India just won another Miss World crown. They have to find a foreign educated half-breed to almost make it as a top 3 finalist. She was lucky that MUO is just trying to please the Thai fans for more social media and online and txt votes support for that top five slot that rightfully belongs to USA, BRAZIL and the PHILIPPINES. Still wondering how she survived the swimsuit round with that flat ass ladyboy figure of hers. Let us see if they could produce locally educated delegates like Shamcey Supsup, Janine Tugonon, Angelia Ong, Jamie Herrel, Karen Ibasco, Kylie Versoza, even Pia W...their last year's locally educated girl could not even give an intelligent response to foreign media casual interviews....and this year's over-hyped foreign educated half breeds for Earth and Universe were clueless. Nothing wrong with half-breeds but to hype how highly educated their girls are, and one of them even posted her grades in social media, then blame the QUESTION for their delegates' embarassing failure to live up to the hype is quite hilarious...but still, we expect more foreign half-breeds in next year's Miss Thailand search. Is Philippines done? Well, a major crown every year from 2013 to 2017...You only hope so.
