If anyone understands the Chinese culture, one would know that red is the real choice of color. It symbolizes celebration, good tidings and happiness. That is why in the 2012 edition of Miss World's World Designer Award, the red gowns are most conspicuous ones. Here are the 7 gowns that Missosology thinks are the eye catching ones.

Guadeloupe - this is an interesting gown in a black canvass peppered with feathers and meticulously arranged add-ons. If there is one thing that Miss World wants from a gown it would be about putting a lot of effort in the design.

Ireland - the gown is sexiness in good taste. The see-through fabric layered with appliques is so well designed and the patterns are just creative. The red color of course is a huge plus.

Dominican Republic - silver just screams elegance and one can appreciate that this is a pretty expensive creation. Figure hugging and sparkling, this gown is simply attention grabbing.

Wales - this is something that royals like Kate Middleton would wear. The way silver was matched with red is really genius. The lithe, tall figure of Miss Wales is a great partner of this gown.

Philippines - she aced everything in this gown. It's a powerful combination of elegance and creativity using the right colors and of course having the right girl wearing this divine creation.

Colombia - this is simplicity at its best. The red gown just screams sexy despite being bereft of any fancy add-ons. Love the way Colombia struts the catwalk

Puerto Rico - Wow and wow and more wow. This is the best gown of the evening and it is not even in red. Puerto Rico pulled this gown brilliantly that uses ranges of blue from aquamarine to zaffre. And it showed off how sexy she is too!

These are my 3 fave gowns below:

PR's dress is absolutely stunning. I love colours and design with the sequins...........................
the colours used is like a beautiful representation of the water and coral reefs in the Caribbean. 8->

I don't know who designs Miss Puerto Rico's dresses............but almost every year I see these queens with AMAZING dresses for both MU and MW :=p

Miss DR's dress is absolutely stunning.
It's a nice simple colour yet very eyecatching.
The dress looks so expensive which is obviously good and very well designed :=p

Miss Philippines dress is very creative IMO.
Usually I'm not a fan of most red dresses but this one is an exception.

It is just beautiful and exquisite :=p

I am so shocked that so many people loved Puerto Rico's dress, I mean seriously, most Puerto Ricans hate it if y'all didn't know, and I'm not talking about the PRicans in this forum, i'm talking about all of them, they wanted to kill Carlos Alberto when they saw this dress, but seems like it turned out well ironically. :%))

And @Kimberly, all the dresses of our queens are made by Puerto Rican designers, even all their wardrobe. :hx

This one in particular was made by Carlos Alberto.

As for the rest, well, of course Guadolupe's dress was eye catching, you can't ignore a dress as ugly and ridiculous as that, lol.

The one's I liked the most was DR's and Philippines dresses, but Philippines takes this one, it's just fantastic!!!!

You may be right that PR's gown is not that stunning but your girl looks so serene and comfortable in that gown, that is why people appreciate it.

Guadeloupe deserves the award with all the appliqués and overall design. This dress is the closest that can signify local culture.

Philippines

TOP 3: Philippines DR & PR ♥

If this is MU I'll pick Carlos Alberto's gown but for Miss World, it's a toss between Queenie & DR's dress, both are red carpet worthy.

The 3 girls carried them well. They all looked GORGEOUS & PRETTY. But ultimately, Cinco's creation is the most elegant and beautiful ♥

1. PHILIPPINES - Winner
the style very unique, the color red meaning goodluck and "HAPPINESS" it seems like she is very happy to represent her country.

2. IRELAND - 1st Runner Up
again, the red gown! simple but i can see the beauty of her being " FIRST CLASS".

3. PUERTO RICO - 2nd Runner Up
i just like the style of her gown especially the multicolor, the ocean blue!

I love PR's dress for it matches the Miss World Crown. her curves are highlighted.

PH's dress is very haute couture. she is rocking it!

GP's dress is a little tacky for me. DR and IR dresses are almost perfect.

GB Wales is like one my barbie doll dresses and CO is very simple but oozing with elegance and sex appeal.

Im not a fan of the gown too, but Puerto rico's sexiness carried this gown and that hairstyle too!!

PR's gown is also a fave of mine in the competition aside from Queenie's red Michael Cinco creation. It kinda looks tacky on the headless and armless mannequin though.
