I hope it isn't true. I don't want to see that undeserving Miss Dominican Republic place over better girls. Miss New Jersey has a big mouth, Paula Shugart and Trump must be pissed off because of this girl's mouth!

Yeah at the moment I don't see her placing; so if MU was tomorrow and she placed...it would definitely be unfair...

La República Dominicana fue escogida como sede para la celebración, en diciembre de este año, de la edición 61 de Miss Universo, donde 52 mujeres de 90 países competirán para llevarse la codiciada corona.



La información la ofreció anoche la dominicana Magali Febles en una entrevista por la televisión que le hizo la periodista y productora del programa El Informe, Alicia Ortega.

“He conversado con el señor Donald Trump y me confirmó que el certamen Miss Universo se hará este año en Santo Domingo”, dijo.

Febles, quien es la directora de Miss Universo República Dominicana, señaló que las razones de escoger a esta nación caribeña para este encuentro son la seguridad que impera y los hermosos paisajes que adornan al país.

Esta vez, el país estará representado internacional por Dulcita Lynn Lieggi Francisco, quien había quedado como primera finalista en el certamen para elegir a la representante nacional, pero Carola Durán, ganadora original, fue destituida tras descubrirse que es una mujer divorciada, cosa que contraviene las reglas del concurso.

La primera dominicana que ganó la corona como Miss Universo fue Amelia Vega, en 2003.

Miss Universo es un título que se le confiere a la mujer que se considere más hermosa del mundo, juzgando la belleza integral, la elegancia, la inteligencia, el porte, la pose y la seguridad.

Cada concursante representa únicamente a su país de origen y la ganadora del título lo lleva por un período de alrededor de un año. En el último concurso, resultó elegida Leila Lopes, de Angola.

El evento fue creado a principios de la década de los años cincuenta. Debe su existencia a la Miss América 1950, Yolande Betbeze. Los dueños actuales del certamen son la televisora norteamericana NBC y el magnate estadounidense Donald Trump.

Mientras tanto, Miss Universo fue cobrando más y más relevancia y se convirtió en un espectáculo transmitido a varios países a través de la CBS.

En 1966, se hizo la primera transmisión a color y en 1972 el concurso salió de Miami Beach para empezar su viaje por el mundo. A partir de ese momento, ha tenido varias sedes en los cinco continentes y sus ganadoras también provienen de todos los rincones del planeta.
