Before you start a Monologue just take a moment to take the things around you, know your audience, make sure know the piece by heart, what period is it from, then if you want to address it to someone in particular, there is a term in acting called "Sense Memorization" you create an image of the person, that best identifies to you, remember the last time you were with them, how they look like, how they smell, put them in your center, know your intentions (of course, the contents of your monologues would help you create those intentions) then focus your gaze to your center and start. And the rest will come together. I hope this helps
