Although she is only 5.6' (1.68 cms) I think she is definitely pretty and has a good chance to place in MW and we know she is going to be very well prepared! Congrats!

She is a very beautiful girl, will have her chances, but all that matters is how she turns up in Ordos. No one thought Amanda had a chance at the crown last year, but the day she landed in London, she started to shine and was immediately on every list. This girl will have to do the same.
Now the good thing is that the PR delegates to MW (like in MU) always come well prepared. Ivonne, Jennifer Colon, Yara, Amanda....were all 100% ready when they started in the competition, so I expect no less for her.

Janelee Chaparro lleva varios meses preparándose para hoy cuando será coronada como la nueva Miss Mundo de Puerto Rico por la actual reina Amanda Vilanova.

La joven, de 20 años y estudiantes de Justicia Criminal, representará a Puerto Rico en el Miss Mundo 2012 que se realizará en agosto en la región de Ordos, en Mongolia, China.

Este año no se celebró concurso local porque el internacional se adelantó cuatro meses y se decidió enviar a Janelee, primera finalista cuando ganó Vilanova.

Desde que supo la noticia, la nueva reina, que no tiene historial de participación en certámenes de belleza, comenzó a trabajar en su cuerpo para lucir más espigada, así como en pasarela y proyección, en especial en su desempeño sobre el escenario que fue lo que le faltó el pasado año para ganar la corona.

La modelo de 5’ 7” de estatura, cuenta con belleza, dulzura y naturalidad, cualidades que se buscan en Miss Mundo. Sin embargo, todavía le falta perfeccionar el inglés.

Entre sus habilidades está el baile y presentó una salsa en su prueba de talento en el concurso el año pasado.

Aunque muchas personas le encuentran un gran parecido con la ex Miss Puerto Rico Universe, Cynthia Olavarría, dijo que prefiere alejarse de las comparaciones y que siempre ha admirado a la ahora actriz.

Al igual que Janelee, en años anteriores Miss Mundo de Puerto Rico, presidido por Delia Cruz, ha enviado a las primeras finalistas a participar internacionalmente en el concurso, como ocurrió con Bárbara Serrano, Yara Lasanta y Thebyam Carrión.

La ceremonia de coronación se hará en un hotel de San Juan. Wilnelia Merced, única Miss Mundo puertorriqueña, se encuentra en Londres y no podrá estar presente.

Para su proyecto de “Belleza con propósito”, Janelee compartió con los envejecientes del Centro Juventud Eterna de Barceloneta. Ahora tendrá que trabajar en el proyecto que someterá en el Miss Mundo 2012, en donde competirá con más de un centenar de beldades.


Viajará a África

Una vez Amanda entregue su corona hoy, con la satisfacción de haber hecho un gran papel en el concurso internacional como segunda finalista y reina del Caribe, partirá hacia África invitada por Miss Mundo para representar a la organización en eventos de caridad. Luego, viajará a Londres para asistir al jubileo de diamante de los 60 años de reinado de la reina Isabel II de Inglaterra que se realizará en junio.

Janelee Chaparro, quien representó a Barceloneta en el certamen de Miss Mundo de Puerto Rico 2011, será coronada como Miss Mundo 2012 luego que la organización decidiera no celebrar el certamen de este año.

Chaparro logró colocarse como la primera finalista en el certamen del año pasado, en el que Amanda Vilanova, representante de San Juan, resultó vencedora.

El reinado de Chaparro será anunciado hoy, jueves, en una conferencia de prensa de las tenedoras del certamen Wilnelia Merced y su madre, Delia Cruz.

La conferencia será realizada en el Eternal Lounge del hotel Conrad Condado Plaza de San Juan, en la que se ofrecerán detalles de la participación de la boricua en el certamen internacional que se llevará a cabo en la ciudad de Ordos, región interior del país Mongolia.

Tras ser coronada hoy como Miss Mundo de Puerto Rico 2012, Janelee M. Chaparro Colón, expresó a Primera Hora que apoya el hecho de que los transexuales compitan en los certámenes de belleza siempre y cuando se les dé la misma oportunidad a las mujeres casadas, divorciadas y madres solteras.

Además, para la beldad boricua, al momento de competir lo más importante está en la confianza que se tenga a sí misma como aspirante a la corona.

“Les tengo mucho respeto (a los transgéneros) y no tengo nada en contra de ellos. Creo que hay reglas, pero si hacemos el cambio a favor de ellos, hay que darle igualdad a las mujeres casadas, divorciadas y madres solteras, para hablar de una igualdad por completo”, sostuvo la reina oriunda de Barceloneta.

La estudiante de Justicia Criminal agregó que de competir junto con un transexual no se sentiría en desventaja porque “la mayor competencia siempre eres tú misma y los nervios son tu mayor enemigo”.

La joven de 20 años de edad y primera finalista en el reciente certamen nacional, fue coronada al mediodía de hoy por parte de la reina saliente Amanda Vilanova, y la cinta le fue colocada de manos de Delia Cruz, quien es madre de lady Wilnelia Merced Forsyth, tenedora de la franquicia en Puerto Rico.

Miss World Puerto Rico 2012 Janelee Chaparro supports the participation of transsexuals in beauty pageants (MU and etc...) ONLY IF they give the same chances to married women, divorced women and single mothers.

Janelee Chaparro: "I respect them a lot (transsexuals), I have nothing against them. I think there's some rules, but if we're going to change rules in favor of them, there should also be equality for married women, divorced women and single mothers if we really wan't complete equality."
