Transgender issue: higher TV ratings or low # of contestants

Postby ajsy0203 » Sun Apr 08, 2012 10:32 pm

After that decision by Mr. Trump, how will it change the game, will this pageant be getting the highest TV ratings in the history or will be an all time low for the pageant and will many national directors might boycott the pageant because of the transgender at the pageant or more countries will participate.

Miss Universe had so many controversy in the past and the ratings is still not going up. So no matter what kind of controversy the Trump is doing, I strongly think rating will still be low.

As for the number of delegates, many are not sending because of high franchise fees that lead the sponsors to back out (e.g. Norway) and left national directors to file for bankcruptcy (e.g. Slovenia) so the numbers will definitely go down. The inclusion of a transgender is just an icing in the cake.

Im not sure if it will lead to national directors to back out, but it will definately affect the viewership once there will actually be a transsexual in the competition. Maybe it'll gain publicity for one year but realistically, the general public will NOT like the idea of a transsexual in the competition, and that's what worries me.

Ok first of all, Norway backed out because of low interest so now there wont be a rep for both Miss Universe and Miss World. And Slovenia's sponsor was a local magazine that independently from the pageant went bankrupted.

Idk, I was talking about it with my sister, and she said that she would definitely watch MU if Jenna was competing.
And I'm pretty sure many others will watch here in the US if sher does win. :-O
I mean, idk if the same thing will happen to viewership in other countries, but come on. How often will you see this?

MU only has low ratings in the US, worldwide it is the 4th most watch show on the planet. I dont think the low ratings in the US are even close to affect the overall rating. Especially when NBC keeps selling rights for viewership. Also get your shit right because Norway and Slovenia backed up for reasons that have nothing to do with fees

Trump only really cares about USA ratings. That is where the money for him is. The day that MUO gets dropped by network TV is the day Trump will dump it. The latin viewership is high and constant, and is locked in via Telemundo, which is also part of NBC.

As of the moment, many people will expect below 70 contestants this year but a higher TV ratings (est. more than 8 M viewers) because of that controversy.

Well said. =D>

On the other side, I don't think there will be below 70 contestants. (minimum 80) Especially when Gabon and Equatorial Guinea will debut and also when Bulgaria and, apparently, Zambia are back. Only Slovenia and Aruba withdraw for now. (no Norway, it was already gone for Miss Universe)
TOP MU 2013 :

1. France 2. Puerto Rico 3. Indonesia
4. Venezuela 5. Peru
