What you are seeing is just the limitations of print media. The image has gone from high res film to low res paper, and the printing itself distorts colours/contrasts.

There is no photoshop, it is quite easy to make out -- photoshop is very very hard to do on these sorts of large group photos, and it is almost pointless. Certainly not to the point where complexions and waistlines are changed. The tones etc are more a reflection of lighting/sun/filters attached to bring out the optimal contrast.
