Leila Lopes is an invited guest at Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2012. Today she arrived and will be a judge in the contest which will be live on Antenna Latina 7 and other channels, this Tuesday at 8pm EST. This will be the first Latin-American pageant she'll be judging. Last year, her predecessor, Ximena Navarrete was also a judge at Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2011. :hx

So apparently ribbon Ceremony pictures weren't taken this year. Likely to prevent the bashing that happened last year with the horrible pictures. But today is the presentation show and the girls will be introduced to the public/fans. :hx

This means that we'll find out who are the official candidates this year.

Last year, on March 8th the lovely Dalia Cristina Fernandez from Santiago de los Caballeros was crowned Miss Dominican Republic 2011. Although she was well prepared when it came to the final of Miss Universe, she was not chosen to be one of the top 15 finalists. But she shone months later at Miss Continente Americano where she was crowned Virreina (Vice-Queen).

After a successful year, Dalia Fernandez will crown her successor on April 7, 2012. Her successor will battle again at Miss Universe 2012 and try to avenge her predecessors. This thread will chronicle events up to the BIG EVENT when Miss Dominican Republic 2012 will be crowned. Stay tune!
