Paraguay is also doing this. Peru is not the only country who has done this as you may know, MANY countries do it.
Plus they cant do anything since Miss Peru has already contacted MUO & MW to make sure everything is in place. They both agreed & there is no problem. :=p

Plus they are interviewing the girls so it can technically be treated as a national competition.

IT IS TRUE, THE MUO REQUIRES NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS TO HOST A NATIONAL PAGEANT IN OTHER TO SENT A GIRL. HOWEVER, IN SPECIAL OCCASIONS A PERMISSION IS GRANTED TO ORGANIZATIONS WANTING TO MAKE A CHANGE IN THEIR PAGEANT'S FORMAT. BTW PERU HAS BEEN STRUGGLING TO CHANGE THE DATE OF THE PAGEANT FOR YEARS, AND SHUGHART HAS FINALLY ACCEPTED... IT ISN'T LIKE PERU DECIDED TO REFORMAT THE PAGEANT OUT OF THE BLUE AND THE MUO ACCEPTED THAT EASILY. BESIDES WHATS THE BIG DEAL??? LAST YEAR NO ONE CARED ABOUT MALAYSIA DESIGNATING DEBORA HENRY.

Actually, looking back on what Miss Peru Org said "El primero ya se viene realizando y tendrá el evento final, en el mes de Febrero cuando se anuncie a las dos ganadoras que nos representaran en Miss Universo , en el mes de septiembre y Miss Mundo, en agosto. A través de un proceso de scouting y entrevistas entre ex candidatas de nuestros pasados certámenes se elegirá a las nuevas soberanas."

It says an event has been going on already, and the final event will finish in February, which is when they will OFFICIALLY announce the 2 girls who will go to MU & MW. So they are having a 'closed' contest

READ the links i put on the thread before you started commenting nonsense PLEASE. It says there has already being a contestant put in place & its still going on. It will end in early Feb, which is when the girls will OFFICIALY be revealed!

The Miss Universe Org prefers that a contest be held to honor tradition and fair "competition" but hand picked girls have competed before like Jennifer Hawkins and Vo Hoang Yen.
I don't think it's unfair if a girl is handpicked. I think it's smart especially if a country has been having trouble placing and wants to focus more money on training then in holding a "big" contest where a clapper is chosen.

But of course it's smart....it's cheating...they have plenty of time to prepare the girl....and do all the surgeries and stuff....while the rest of the National directors are still scrambling to stage a national competition.

It's not cheating unless the Miss Universe competition disqualifies them.
But hey, we'll see come what ever day it's held.

Me encantan las dos! No tengo ningún problema si no habrá concurso! lo mas importante es Peru tiene una representante fuerte y muy preparada. Unas personas dicen que es injusto no tener concurso pero la verdad es tienen miedo de estas dos chicas! =;))

Bueno, las chicas no estan confirmadas aun. Y para este Miss Universe y Miss World 2012 no habra concurso. PERO, si habra el Miss Peru 2012 en JUNIO, y las ganadoras iran al MU y MW el 2013. Ellas tendran como un año de preparacion :!!

Yes -- there were two girls mentioned as potential MW Peru - Natalie and Guiliana..

I actually personally do not think either of these girls will be competitive for MW. Guiliana is pretty but she is not a standout. Natalie has the looks but MW places a lot of emphasis on character and humility -- her diva attitude will knock her straight out of contention there. Peru needs to find another angel like Maju Mantilla.

Well there are girls who are not pretty in MW & they make it. Plus she is a doctor, so that may give her a little push.
Natalie, we know her as the pretty girl but she is actually very humble

But they are just rumors for now.

In june the Miss Peru pageant will be held, the winners from there will go on to MU & MW 2013. This way the girls will have about a year of training :=p
