SAME SEX MARRIAGE IN THE PHILIPPINES: ARE WE READY FOR IT?

FIRST AND FOREMOST,
CONGRATULATIONS NEW YORK! SAME SEX MARRIAGE IS NOW ALLOWED IN YOUR STATE!

Now, back to my topic.

Same sex marriage is now an arising (well, still an old issue) issue here in the Philippines after New York legalizes it. I was thinking is the Catholic-dominated country like the Philippines ready for such same sex marriage? Same sex marriage is like the RH Bill and the Divorce Bill, the Catholic Church is against it yet many of the Filipinos agreed to it.

Yes. The Catholic Church is always there to counterattack such issues or proposed bills to legalize these bills. I am a Catholic but I do not oppose such. I am PRO DIVORCE. PRO RH BILL. Lastly, PRO SAME SEX MARRIAGE.

Back to the question, ARE WE READY FOR GAY MARRIAGE?

My answer:

A BIG NO! Why? Because we still live in a country that has a very strong Catholic Church influence. We have Congressmen/women who have strong church values and afraid to be against the will of the church.

But I still believe that in few years time, we can pass and have SAME SEX MARRIAGE IN THE PHILIPPINES. I firmly believe that love should be UNCONDITIONAL and knows NO GENDER! Everyone deserves to love and be loved. I believe in the idea of EQUALITY FOR ALL. If a man falls in love to another man or a woman in love to another woman, let's RESPECT THEM! Give them the choice of getting married.

WE ARE ALL HUMAN BEINGS AND WE KNOW HOW TO LOVE!

I personally know a philipino couple of 10 years. They live like any other family. Living together for nearly 9 of those years. Commendable.
When Liz Taylor married 9times what should stop other people for committing officially and live in matrimony? People divorce at the drop of a hat so why then is there an obstacle to someone who wants truly commit to a relationship?

I do not know if the bill will ever reach fruition but sure do hope things go the morally right way and we all know which way that is.

If you're so passionate about sex education...teach it to your own kids....we can find other ways to educate the public
If you wanna leave your retard of a husband....get an annulment

These are both not ideal scenarios but at least there are alternatives...

If a gay man wants to get married...wants to be entitled to certain rights like but not limited to: spousal visits, inheritance, right to decide on important matters like pulling the plug for life support...what other options does one have?

I'm not even talking about marriage...just civil rights that that come with a civil union...don't call it a marriage if you don't want to

If matrimony is such a sacred concept...then leave it to those who think they are sacred...but when we talk of rights under the law..

it would be clear discrimination to think gay people shouldn't be allowed these rights!!!!

We belong to a conservative country, I think it will take decades bago mapasa ang bill for same sex marriage for now we should relocate to other places
such as in US, Australia and other countries who legalize same sex marriage.. :">

The country is not ready yet, but for me, "I am ready" ching lang!! syempre gusto ko rin pero hindi ito ang tamang panahon, marami pang dapat tutukan ang government. Ang dami pang issue na dapat isolve, at madadagdagan pa dahil dito?...hindi nakakayanin ni PNOY! unti-unti ng nakakalbo sya eh..hirap na sya. ching! :D/

im all for people's happiness and freedom, so im ready but the question is how many are ready? a democratic country dominated by christians i doubt it! it will never happen! the church is close to that idea! it's sad you only have a what....less than 100 years to live.... and you can't do things hetero do and dont get equal rights! kaya mga bakla gora sa bansang sweden! choz!

but people it's not just about the government recognizing your love...it's not just about being together....this is not sentimental mumbo jumbo or lovey dovey bullsh!t

This is about a civil right as fundamental as voting...

What would you think happen if women didn't fight for suffrage???

For me, the more important is to respect who I am.. darating din ang araw na matatanggap din ang same sex marriage. sa ngayon marami paring problema ang hinaharap ng Gobyerno natin.. Imbis na makipag sabayan eh manahimik at makipag tulungan nlng tayo.. lahat nman ng bagay nakatakda, at lahat ng nakatakda nagaganap.. If you really want to get marry then go to some places who are equally treated.. I have a healthy same sex love life and I'm thankful for that.. for now I am not asking for more.. pero kng dmating man yung time na maipasa na ang same sex marriage, then A big thank you for that! :-D

I'm not saying it is better....anober? better laws?
I'm saying it should be a bigger priority because there are no alternatives....
The RH Bill is important...I just think the Gay Marriage Bill is more fundamental...because it DIRECTLY deals with a basic human right that is not addressed.
the lack of some sort of gay marriage union is CLEAR PREJUDICE...I don't understand why the world doesn't agree..It's like saying, you have autism, you can't get married.
As far as the RH Bill is concerned...Dont get it twisted....Im Pro RH Bill...but everything it deals with is already accessible to people...it's just a matter of waiting for them to access it or shoving it in their face....

i believe they will get used to it. if the law maker pass the bill of same sex marriage. they can't stop gays and lesbian has growing population. they might be thinking of how would we populate. it is a matter of choice. i will stand and fight for our right. to gain respect and equality to all.... :">
