what do u mean by padulas? u mean ba na under the table na ang doctor gusto lang additional datong? if so, omg...naka relate me sa kwento mo about ur friend na nurse na diagnosed with something in her baga. u know what, i think ur right. kc na experienced me yan sa mga doctors in manila. i onced failed a medical exam from a certain doctor in manila at sabi din nya may nakita daw sa lungs me but i reacted agad kc that time i know myself na im very healthy. so wat the recruiting company did ay they sent me with another doctor and would u believe? im cleared with no problem at all and i passed the medical exam. so after that incident, ive heard a lots of speculations with my friends na thats just normal daw sa mga doctors especially if ur applying a job abroad. they will take advantage daw by diagnosed u wrongly para maka pera lang. hayyy mga ibang doctors talaga sa pinas. kc my status that time i was locally hired here in middle east, na i brought my own visa sa pinas to process it kaya inisip siguro ng doctor na rich me kc nga im ex abroad.

An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Trite is may sound, but go see a doctor who specializes in this ailment. I heard consultation is done free at the San Lazaro Memorial Medical Center in Sta Cruz, Manila? I knew a close friend who was inflicted and died with this illness although his family is still up until now in complete denial. At work, we saw him to be losing focus in his job, forgetful, and when he felt ill, it took him too long to recuperate. He was also constantly losing his appetite and easily tires out during normal walks which normally wasn't what he was. He easily doses off between takes, and gets hot spells and feverish. He himself confirmed this affliction telling all his close friends that he was noticing something "abnormal" with his physical condition. He felt ill almost after every cycle of 2 weeks. When he visited with me the last time we saw each other, I toured him walking the avenues and streets from Lower Manhattan to midtown. He was slower in gait and always lagged several meters behind us even if the walk wasn't brisk all the time. And when we took a cruise around the Island, instead of taking to the views from around the Hudson and East Rivers, he remained motionless in his seat, dosing off with a nap. We knew then that something was wrong and when he got back to fulfill contractual obligation with his Mid-East employer, it only took him 3 weeks before he was repatriated home to Manila due to a medical termination. On arrival home from the Middle East, the lesions got worse after a week he passed away and immediately cremated. It was sad that he almost lost his sight and can't read airport directions at the KFIA during his flight back to Manila. And sadder still that he wasn't even able to remember the pin number of his savings account as was narrated by the escort of the company that flew him out of Dammam to the NAIA.

that's a very tragic story.totoo na sa huli palagi ang pagsisisi. my advice to my co - forumers here is plain and simple: practice safe sex always. it's great to have threads like this to educate others as well. the recent wave of HIV positives discovered are MSM and are mostly call center agents and OFWs.please spread the word that it is never too late to change our ways- be monogamous,and if you can't , then be safe always.

In my previous employer, one of our colleagues before was also tested HIV positive. But he was not convinced, because he knew it was impossible.
He took another test in another clinic and it was indeed negative.
Modus operandi din yan ng ilang clinics para kumita.
Kaya kugn alam mo na hindi ka naman puwede maging HIV positive, take 2nd thoughts from more reputable clinics.


Thank God I never have to worry about HIV. I never did casual sex yet.

I feel for you so much. I have been tested twice, but each time I had to go through with it, it is really hard na kulang na lang gumuho ang mundo right before my very eyes. Tibayan mo lang ang loob mo. From what I read, each of us have varying immune deficiencies that some can be detected and some are asymptomatic. I am not sure though but I hope these HIV thing is not just a way to typecast individuals and/ or is a way of foundations and the pharmaceutical industry to gain profit out of it. Isa lang talaga ang may hawak ng buhay natin kaya sa Kanya ka lang manalig. Sana maging maganda ang outcome nyang susunod na test mo for your peace of mind and from there, magsimula ka ulit and maging maingat. Gawin mong turning point iyan sa buhay mo to live it for the better.

a lot of you here might be afraid to be tested. this is the only way to know.
go to the nearest OPD and ask for VCT. Private hospitals will charge you 1500 pesos for the test.
in San Lazaro, this is somehow lower or even for free.

GET TESTED. BE AWARE, and DO NOT INFECT OTHERS.

and to you TS, prepare yourself and be strong.
get in contact with those people you have encountered (sex) and tell them to be tested also. be ready for those not so nice words.

ELISA is no longer used in the United States as it requires confirmatory test like the protein specific Western blot (waste of money, time, and it causes the patient to suffer from unnecessary anxiety). I believe ELISA was used on your initial screening and requires the Western blot to confirm it. A reactive result on the ELISA test does not automatically say you are positve with the HIV virus. When a person's ELISA test shows reactive result, it could be due to a number of reasons like the subject is currently harboring infection(s) other than the HIV virus or the virus itself (i.e., syphilis, gonorrhea, herpes, clammydia, and other disease that your white blood cells are in full force). If you had infection(s) at the time of the screening that you didn't know, your test result would yield reactive. The keyword to this is "reactive" which means antibodies were detected and not necessarily mean you are positive to the virus. Another guideline in using ELISA test is to avoid getting it if you have had infection(s) days or weeks before the actual test.

In a tropical country like the Philippines, people harbor tropical and nontropical infections more than people can realize. Some can be symptomatic and some can be asymptomatic. A person may not know that he or she has an infection and that person's immune system is in all out war with the invader. If that person undergoes ELISA test, a reactive result could yield.

Let us all hope and pray that you have something else that is curable than that dreadful virus.

He took another test in another clinic and it was indeed negative.

You don't have to worry about HIV but please be informed that casual sex is not the only means of getting infected by the virus; there are very many possibilities and ways of contracting it.

ill pray for you...but just for the record ha, im not trying to scare you with my next statement: i havent heard YET of people being tested with HIV screening (with a positive result yielded from you) na kapag nagconfirmatory, western blot un, na ngnenegative...usually, pag positive sa elisa screening, positive na din sa confirmatory..but God is really good...and prayers do miracles...let us just pray...honestly, i had also underwent hiv screening last march, and lucky i am, it turned out to be negative...naalarma lang din ako kasi d2 sa subic, we have 15 new cases of hiv/aids..kakatakot tlga...yes, cancer is more deadlier than aids...ang aids parang diabetes, di ka mamamatay sa mismong sakit...kundi sa kumplikasyon nito...papahinain ng aids virus ang immune system ng tao..hanggang dapuan na ang carrier ng kung anu anong sakit na di na kyang labanan ng katawan natin...or even medications...walang gamot ang hiv...my pampabagal lng ng progress nito...at npakamahal ng meds na to...at ang kaibahan lng ng aids sa diabetes, ang diabetes, tanggap ka sa lipunan,...ang aids may mga taong makikitid ang utak na pandidirihan ka...at dahil jan, maraming hiv positive ang ngagalit sa sarili nila...at kung minsan, nandadamay pa ng iba....naghahasik pa ng sakit...kakatakot tlga...pero pray pray pray...God bless! to all pipol na makakabsa ng comment ko, i am encouraging you (kung sexually active kau at multiple partners) na magpa hiv screening..it will not harm you...mas ok na yung alam ntin kung anu health status natin dba? nga pla, 4 months after your last casual sex, dun kau mgpascreen

Getting infected through kissing is slim to none. It is proven by studies in the United States that saliva contains antibodies only and not the virus itself. If the infected person has bleeding gums, the recipient's oral health condition plays an important role that if he or she does not have an opening to the system (i.e., tooth cavities, gingivitis, cut on the gums through brushing, chancre sores, and the likes), cross contamination is less likely (virus going through the intestinal tract dies because of acids present in that area). Don't take this as an "all there is to know" as the purpose of this statement to avoid paranoia. The best practice is still safe sex.
