What does this exactly mean? Average and percentile are two entirely different statistical parameters. I think the TS posted (from whichever source) national averaged IQ's coming from individual IQs whose values are absolute. That is, (IQ)ave = summation of the IQ from n=1 to n= x all over x where x is the total number of people in that particular country (or at least a representative sample of the whole lot). Percentile on the other hand pertains to a special kind of ranking where the value is relative to the percentage of "bested" others. Say in a competition of 100 participants, the highest in rank has a percentile of 99 (assuming that there are no ties in the top spot). So I didn't get it when you said that the TS's IQ average is 86 percentile rank.
