I saw her in the "crowning" video of Mr. Gay World which was held in Manila this past weekend. She presented the winner with his ribbon. She looked amazing... she must be in her late 50s or early 60s, right?

Gloria has never styled herself to look like everyone else. While all beauty queens of her time wear their hair in buns, she would wear hers down, even in evening gown. I remember seeing newspaper and magazine images of her back in the 1970s and early 1980s, wearing bra-less long gowns during cocktail events while everyone around her were in the usual Azabache trousers and knee-length Goulbourn dresses. Margie has always been well-coiffed, from her pre-Binibini days as a fashion model all the way to the present (see her judging at the Binbini). And, as you can see from the 1994 MU, Margie is every bit the glamorous socialite of a beauty queen, and Gloria is much more grounded with that questionable terno.

Gloria looks great for a 60-year-old, though; I know a lot of 60-year-old ladies who are so matrona-looking. It'll be interesting to have a conversation with her: I'm sure she'll be as lively and free-spirited as the way she dresses up. In fact, people who know her have commented about her love for laughter and her generosity.

These two world class queens just showed us that aging with grace and class coupled with humility and service to her fellow Filipinos are worth emulating. In fact , Gloria has done a lot here in Davao for her civic works like protecting nature and promoting/ advocating women's health in Panabo for which the Floirendos served as government public servants. Congrats!
