The queen and her court

MISS SPAIN WINS MISS UNIVERSE 1974

The Philippines' love affair with the Miss Universe pageant reached a feverish pitch when it hosted the 1974 pageant in Manila in July 1974. It was held at the Folk Arts Center which was constructed in a record 35 days.

Spain’s Amparo Muñoz won along with Helen Morgan, Miss Wales, 1st runner up ( Miss Wales would later win the 1974 Miss World crown only to be stripped of the title after a few days when it was found that she was an unwed mother!)

2nd runner up was Miss Finland, Joanna Raunio, who also won the Miss Photogenic crown.
3rd runner up was Miss Colombia, Cecilia Escandon
and the 4th runner up was Miss Aruba, Maureen Ava Viera

The banner in 1974 had a red border with the blue letters like the Miss USA banner. Was there a reason for this and was that the only year that they had that particular banner?

amparo munoz was such a beauty plus margie's farewell is so elegant... even the production was so elegant and very filipino when all of them were in terno and barong tagalog. Those are one of the best Miss Universe staging...

there was a controversy that she was not really dethroned but not invited to pass her crown the following year... i watch a documentary about it and amparo says she did not attend the following year for passing the crown as she was not invited by the organizers... but until to this day I don't think she was really "dethroned" until now she was still acknowledge as Miss Universe 1974 by the MUO.

I’ve got a problem with one of my hard drives. It is a Samsung SP2514N 250Gb and is connected using a PATA cable (my main HDD is through SATA) and it has a DVD burner on the end of the same cable. I have set it up like this because my Mobo only has one PATA cable socket.
