Meriem Litim, crowned Miss Algeria 2005 at 16 years old, is a permanent member of the Miss Algeria committee, serving as mentor and judge.

Contestant Manel Ougaida appeared on a brief live today to thank all her fans for their support. Through some questions, she revealed that she joined Miss Algeria because it was her childhood dream and if she wins, she hopes to use the title in anyway to help and unite the Algerian people. She also confirmed that the winner should be competing in Miss World this year. While not allowed to give any details about the finale, she said the preparations are nearing their end and the coronation is happening very soon.

Besides having a Master’s degree in Chemistry and Physics, contestant Hana Bouchikhi is an aspiring singer who performs pop, jazz, blues and rap music. Hana performs regularly at private events including her hometown’s Oran Fashion Week. She credits Selena Gomez as her biggest idol and the reason behind her love of the stage.

Contestant Ikram Sadaoui is no stranger to pageantry. In 2019 she was crowned as “Miss Tamazight”, a pageant that celebrates Berber beauty and culture. In 2020, she placed as first runner-up of Miss Yanayer, a pageant that celebrates the Berber New Year.

Apparently the contestants have been sent home since at least 2 weeks ago with a complete silence from the organization. One of the contestants said they are taking a break.

It’s likely that the sponsors decided to pull out. I will keep you posted for any updates.

While waiting for the finale of Miss Algeria 2021, contestant Ikram Sadaoui crowned her successor yesterday for the title of Miss Tamazight 2021, Maysa Ibrahim. Hopefully the new winner gets to compete in Miss Algeria 2022.

Contestant Fedwa Benahmed is resuming her modeling assignments. She also appears in the latest music video of singer Bilal Babilo, playing the role of a cheating and remorseful girlfriend.

It seems the contest will not take place until at least after mid-May, due to Ramadan.

Meanwhile contestant Rahma Mechtoub was happy to share that she got admitted into her school’s PhD program, where she will pursue a doctorate in Ecology and Environmental sciences, the exact topic of this year’s BWAP.
