MISTER India Mohit Singh, a 25-year old, 5’11” electrical engineer from New Delhi who also works part time as a model won the 2nd Mister United Continents Pageant held at Tanghalang Pasigueño in Pasig City last Friday.
Singh bested 16 other delegates worldwide in the Manila-based international that selects the most attractive men across the continents to become ambassadors of goodwill. He won $5,000 in cash and an array of other prizes from sponsors.
Singh became the second Indian man to win an international pageant this year. Last July 19, Rohit Khandelwal, 27, from Hyderabad, became India’s first Mr. World tiltlist, when he bested 45 other delegates worldwide at the 9th staging of the contest in Southport, England.
Master Vietnam Nguyen Hai Quan, 32, a businessman and model from Ho Chi Minh City, was named as Master United Continents 2016. The pageant selected two winners in two categories: a “Master” winner for delegates 28 years old up, and a “Mister” winner for delegates 27 years old and below. Quan also received $5,000 in cash and other prizes.
Runners-up (in order) in the tilt were: Mark Redfearn, 21, from Middlesbrough, United Kingdom, first; Vu Hoang Tuan, 19, from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, second; Thu Da Nyi Nyi, 22, from Yangon, Myanmar, third; Peter Sovic, 27, from
Bangkok, Thailand, fourth; and Kian Ching, 21, from Kota Kinabalu, Borneo, Malaysia, fifth. All five received $500 in cash and other prizes.
Master Philippines Joser de Leon Sinfuego, 29, from Baao, Camarines Sur, and Mister Philippines Joseph Cruz Franco, 20, from Quezon City, both made it to the semi-final cut of 12.
The delegates from the Czech Republic, Cambodia, Canada and Australia also made it to the semi-finals.
The delegates paraded in national costumes, swimwear and formal wear before a panel of judges, with the final 7 delegates donning the formal barong before the announcement of the winners.
