Trees are essential to life. So let's care for Mother Earth and her trees because from the very beginning she give us the reason why we are still here. Together let's protect her, and give her what she gives us - the true beauty of the Earth. When and if we have to cut down one tree, let's replant two or more. HappyEarth Day #earthwarrior #WomanoftheEarth #earth #trees

Thank you dad for being there.
Thanks to my families and friends for their support and encouraging.

CINTIANA HARRY

Our Earth, Our Mother
We did not inherit the planet from our ancestors, we borrowed it from our children...
Trees contribute to our environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil and support wildlife.
Today, students of JC Chandisingh Secondary School along with teachers, Mr. Ravendra Naggah and Ms. Shena Ramkirpaul join me in giving back to Mother Earth by planting some trees. One tree can make a difference...

This year and for the first time in Miss Earth Guyana, the delegates were paired with a designer and were allowed to design a piece made entirely from recycled material or material that would otherwise be used as trash. Once designed, the designers, now up and coming in the Guyanese sphere, were tasked with implementing the outfit.

Phelicia Adams is wearing a recycled creative wear from Rudy Richard Creation by Rudy Richard. The main concept of the design is to let people know or to show them how beautiful and healthy recycling can be for us and our environment. The wear consist of four main parts. The head piece that was made out of newspaper and was painted placing a candle at the top, which represents the sun which shines down upon her flowers helping them to beautify the environment. The back piece that was made out of recycle newspaper, card board, CD’s and cups, which represents all the flowers found in Guyana showing the unity amongst them. The majestic water falls was made with recycled plastic, pipes, bottles, shells and rocks, which represent the flow of life washing the bad away which brings forth new beginnings, and finally, the inner wear, the swimsuit; It was made out of recycled newspaper, color plastics and CD’s, which represents the colors of nature.

Anessa’s gown, designed by Crystal Lam, is composed of broken glass, broken CD’s, garbage bags, old shoe laces and damaged or old pieces of clothing.

The damaged pieces of clothing form the base of the bodice for this elegant gown. The shoe lace is used to for the lattice work to the rear of her gown. The bodice is then embellished with broken glass and cds meticulously arranged in a breathtakingly stunning arrangement. The bottom of her stunning fish tale grown is made of garbage bags.

Anessa’s gown is proof that we don’t have to be whole or the same to be beautiful. As humans we are all different and a little flawed; a little broken but we can still come together and create a world as brilliant and beautiful as the gown she wears.

Pollution is a prominent issue facing our world today and it is up to us to find innovative ways to reuse the materials. We have chosen to use tire rubbers, bicycle spokes, tire tracks, CDs, plastic bags, wires and newspaper to create our piece. The dominant materials used in the creation of my piece are tire rubbers and plastic bags since they are poorly disposed of and is prevalent across Guyana. The bustier is made of tire rubber as well as part of the skirt. These pieces are embellished with cuts of CDs to create a sophisticated and elegant look. We have chosen to describe the entire look as the Queen of recycling since we have created something beautiful out of materials that were once deemed useless.

This exquisite piece was created by Designer Tandica Favorite and Earth warrior Amelia Bakhsh

Designed by Carl Peterkin, the body of the gown worn by Kataina Phillips was made out of old silk sheets covered in handmade paper flowers made by the team. It's a representation of our capital city which is known as "The Garden City". The white paper flowers were made from waste papers that were collected from the national print and were painted to highlight how beautiful our city is. In between the white painted flowers are flowers made from old newspapers collected from residents of Durban St to highlight the areas in our city that is covered with land pollution. Rhinestones were made from broken mirrors and old CD’s to give this gown its astounding finished look,

“Bird Set Free” represents love for nature and animals. It tells us of the damage we have done to the environment and the losses we have dealt to the animals. It is a tribute to animals that have gone extinct and those that are endangered. Representing the Hibiscus let’s welcome Annessa VanSluytman as she performs her dance to “Bird Set Free.”
