Here is a suggestion to MJW- scrap the Awards for legs, skin tone and figure and just do a fair and precise judging of Beach Beauty.

She reminds me of another Chtistina...Christina Benjamin from MJW 2009 and host of CollegeLifestyle.

This girl might just end up winning. My question is, why didn't they just advice her to join the audition in Kingston. There will be drama if or when she wins.

THIS GIRL MIGHT MAKE THE TOP 20 FINALIST DUE TO HER ETHNIC BACKGROUND BUT IF IT WAS ME INCHARGE SHE WOULD BE ELIMINATED. POOR STYLING >:) ....I AM NOT A FAN OF HER SMILE AND LACK OF PROPER MAKEUP ETC..IN THE 1980'S AND 90'S SHE WOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED A FINALIST AT THE ELIMINATIONS..THOSE DAYS GIRLS CAME READY AND WAITING TO COMPETE... ~X( ~X( ~X( ~X(

LOL Mario, you are a trip. This young lady may well win the county (if shes intelligent), but she is average in looks, just like her counterparts. Thanks much.

Thanks 2Rahtid. This brochure is nice. Looks like it was a very professional and well executed launch -- MJW is way ahead of MUJ on that and other fronts. I notice that one of the agenda items is changes in the format of the competition. Any idea what they are?

Thanks. I am ok with all of these except for the first one, especially if they end up with another big batch of 25 girls. If you have limited resources then it is better to focus your energy on a smaller group of girls with real potential and then super-focus on the winner. I really want to see much more intense and systematic preparation of the winner this year with special focus on the winner's weak points. Every thing about Gina's preparation just seemed haphazard and last minute. For example, runway and stage deportment training should not just be a one-time session with Yendi. That was one of Gina's biggest weaknesses so she should have been working on it daily.

I am ok with the reality show, although as Kristof noted on the T&T thread, you need drama and conflict to keep viewers interested. The danger here is that they get the drama, but in the process ruin the brand. She better make sure that she has the last word on the final edit so that she can control the image of the contestants and her brand.

Anyway, this is a great start so 2014 should be another good year for MJW.

I DIDN'T EVEN REMEMBER ABOUT THE LAUNCH. IT LOOKS LIKE THEY DIDN'T HAVE NUFF FOOD LIKE LAST YEAR. LOL

I HATE THE REALITY SHOW IDEA UNLESS IT WILL BE A FUN DOCUMENTARY SHOW. REALITY SHOWS ARE SO TACKY.

WHY ARE THEY MOVING THE PAGEANT TO CABLE, WHAT ABOUT THE MAJOR LOCAL NETWORKS?

My concerns exactly.
I dont have FLOW so I guess that leaves me out and the rest of the people who dont have FLOW or dont even have cable for that matter.
What the hell does a reality show has to do with a Beauty Pageant??? Its not a Popularity contest nor a DRAMA QUEEN Awards show.

I AGREE WITH YOU 100% HERE... AS I HAVE ALWAYS SAID,REAL FABULOUS BEAUTIES DON,T NEED TO GO THROUGH ALL OF THIS RIGOR INORDER TO WIN AN INTERNATIONAL PAGEANT.BACK IN THE DAY GIRLS WOULD JUST SHOW UP AT THE ELIMINATIONS AFTER SUBMITTING THEIR APPLICATIONS AND THEN MICKEY AND HIS TEAM WOULD NARROW THE ENTRANTS DOWN TO 20.THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN DOING THIS SO I DON,T SEE WHY LAURA SHOULD CHANGE THIS PROCESS....WHAT THEY NEED TO DO IS TO CROWN THE WINNER AT LEAST 3 MONTHS BEFORE THE INTERNATIONAL PAGEANT AND PREPARE HER FOR THAT INSTEAD OF WASTING TIME AND MONEY ON ETIQUETTE SCHOOL FOR THESE GIRLS...UNLESS LAURA WAS THINKING ABOUT CREATING A BEAUTY FACTORY. ~X( ~X( ~X( ~X( ~X( ~X( ~X( ~X(

TRUE. AND They dont even need a MJW press launch every year to start the pageant. I can understand last yr, taking it over. WHY not put more emphasis on scouting and recruitment...then issue press releases as needed to build image, and get straight to the eliminations and contest. I know laura is trying to empower Jamaican women, as many as possible, but she must not forget the objective-to find a beautiful, well rounded and outstanding Jamaican young lady to represent us at Miss World. I notice the charities listed are the same ones from last year. Will girls be forced to stick with these charities?? I hope MJW Org have liability insurance, putting these girls through rigorous boot camp, increase risk of accidents..injury...

not nice. Deanna had no management. She was blocked. I was so excited when MW offered her that Ambassador contract, and not even that they signed. Geez. SO YOu cant blame Deanna. YENDI didnt get many opportunities either. GINA is right there on par with MISS WORLD...

I really hope they do not force the winner to work with the same charities year after year for BWAP. What is the point of that? If a girl like Ashlie Barrett wins, they should let her stick with her current charity work -- it is always more compelling and her enthusiasm for her own project will shine through. Also, one thing I did not like about Gina's BWAP was that it was very unfocused. Too many different projects. They are lucky that Gina's sincerity and warmth and came through in her video. Just pick one cause and do it well.

I dont understand the purpose of "working with Charities" which is different from when Terri took the finalists to do Labour Day Project. But why "FOCUS" on the same boring charities that couldnt even give Gina a top 10 BWP place? At Least Deanna's creative BWP rocked Miss World. What happen to giving the young misses the opportunity to think outside of the box with their own CREATIVE charity ideas?

Exactly! I actually like when they have the girls do these group projects as part of the activities of the pageant. The girls are giving back and we always get to have fun picking apart the photos of the girls who dress inappropriately. LOL. But a forced group project will never win BWAP. It was so obvious that Gina's BWAP was MJW''s charities and not her own the minute we saw the other contestants in the video.

AGREED..dunno, but am more excited this year about MUJ..than MJW. I noticed weve seen no pics from audition one (besides the judges), then suddenly (last night), they posted a short video of a stunning GINA, on Facebook, appealing to girls to enter. This is very telling. I suspect all and sundry showed up for the auditions. I think you have to be clever how you market yourself and image, to get the right girls to enter, facebook alone wont do it. I dont hear much talk about scouting and recruiting. All we hear about is reality shows, military boot camps...and the same MJW charities. Id rather a simple contest, focus on the basics to find the right girl, then take it from there. I remember Deanas creative BWP clip so well, beautiful and sincere, when I first saw it, I knew instantly it was a winner!!

I love me some Gina, but we all agree that her weakness was styling on the night of the finals. More time would not have made a difference -- she would have worn that same or some other awful Uzuri gown and her hair would have been a mess, just like it was at MJW finals. And even if they gave her a decent gown and fixed her hair, she was not gonna beat Philippines, France or even that "basic black chick" from Ghana.
