MARIEL has excelled as a student-athlete, earning multiple honors for her academics and athletics. Her contribution to the world would be to inspire kindness, generosity and tolerance of others. She hopes her experience here will inspire confidence in other young women to use their voices to advocate for positive changes.
MIRA DURIMAN
Candidate no. 2
Las Vegas, NV
MIRA loves to sing, but she also intends to use her voice to advocate for truth and justice. She hopes to become a lawyer, and also works in sound engineering and music production. Her big brother is her role model, because he has stayed up until 4:00 am to make sure she’s finished her homework, and for the invaluable advice her gives her.

GISELLE believes one should never stop learning. She is open-minded, optimistic and curious about life. She loves to experience new things, meet new people, and is passionate about bringing awareness to special needs children. An aspiring registered nurse, she supports higher education and volunteerism among younger women.

JENNA describes herself as being open, honest and outgoing, and she’s never been afraid to speak her mind, especially in times of conflict. She feels that to make a positive impact in the world, one must start in one’s own community. Competing in this pageant will provide her an opportunity to learn more about herself, her culture, and to raise awareness about systemic oppression.

SARAH discovered her interest in performing community service at an early age, and plans to create her own charitable foundation someday, to work abroad in developing countries. If she could inspire at least one person, she would ask them to practice a few acts of kindness each day. Her training in economics and international relations allows her to combine charity and business.

KRISTEN took the opportunity to join this pageant because she loves meeting new people, making new friends, and forming strong bonds with her fellow candidates. She is a woman of substance who’s not afraid to work hard to achieve her goals. She’s passionate about her career goals and believes she can change a million lives for the better by having positive interactions with everyone she meets.

ANGEL plans to play a more active role in serving the Filipino community through participation in this pageant. She has earned numerous scholarship awards and hopes to land her dream job after college graduation, working for the CIA. She describes herself as vibrant and full of life, and she enjoys traveling around the world to expand her knowledge and gain perspective about different cultures.

ALYSSA is a dance enthusiast who’s garnered many awards and recognitions for her performances. She’s also an aspiring doctor who has a special concern for those with special needs. She embodies what she feels are typical Filipina traits: independence, compassion for others and dedication to hard work. She credits her mother for being a great role model.

AVALYN founded her own charitable foundation at the age of 17, and she’s committed to her efforts to help uplift the lives of impoverished youth in the Philippines. She aspires to one day be a successful singer, to allow her the platform opportunity to shine a light on bullying, teen suicide and poverty. Her Lola remains her lifelong role model, for her inner strength and determination.

CRISTINA speaks Tagalog, Visayan and German, having lived in Germany for the last 12 years. She credits her strong family support for her achievements and helping her overcome obstacles in life. She describes herself as ambitious, and combines her ambition with always giving 100 percent in everything she does. She dreams of one day being able to take care of her whole family.

SHANNEN hopes to make a difference in this world by taking it upon herself to make small, positive changes on a daily basis. She describes herself as grounded, as she grew up an only child and didn’t have siblings around to guide and support her. She was always inspired to give back to her community in some way, and would look forward to a future role as a tourism ambassador.

MARICRES is widely traveled as a medical missionary, and a member of the US Peace Corps. She has lived in a small African village, and later journeyed to Nepal to take part in relief operations after a devastating earthquake. She describes herself as brave, as she grew up struggling with adversity, but is proud of the resiliency she has learned along the way.

ALEXA joined this pageant because of the opportunity to develop her selfconfidence and to spread a positive image about her culture. She is a leader who is currently pursuing a career in nursing.

NATASHA is interested in broadening her sphere of influence among her age group, and she feels this pageant give her the platform to do so. Mental health awareness in Asian communities is her advocacy, which she believes is especially important among her age group.
