* This is not to overhype Katarina or jinxing her chances. This is just an honest thought about her. Personally, I felt goosebumps when she made her announcement today that she will be auditioning for the screening of this year’s Miss World Philippines. The way she kept it is a secret and then finally revealed actually reminded me of Catriona’s participation in Binibini, also this year. Very similar scenario. When Katarina finally revealed herself, I got so excited. I’m supporting her all the way.
* Katarina gave a different overall look this time compared to her entire Binibini stint (from auditions to Binibini, to Intercontinental, until she passed her crown). She looks younger and so much better now, which makes her a really prepared candidate. I already saw her in person during the Parade of Beauties last February, and to be honest, she was the best looking and best styled among all the 2017 Binibini queens (sorry Rachel, Mariel, Elizabeth, Chanel and Nelda).
* Katarina could’ve been Miss Universe Philippines last year, but fate brought her to compete in Miss Intercontinental. Fate also brought her not to win that title because I believe she will be destined to compete in Miss World. Features wise, she is really good to win. She’s well spoken, she knows how to project herself (which is important in Miss World’s Top Model and she even competed in AsNTM). My only concern about her is, if she could present a very strong BWAP in Miss World if she wins. Laura raised the bar for BWAP in the Philippines so I wish Katarina could pull something good.
* I already thought that Ariella-Megan (2013) and Maxine-Catriona (2016) were the strongest Miss Universe Philippines-Miss World Philippines duo in recent years. If Katarina wins, I believe, the Cat-Kat (Catriona-Katarina) tandem will be the strongest duo EVER the Philippines will produce in Miss Universe and Miss World. We might not be sure on who will MWO choose as their winner this year (since the pageant is in China), I am quite confident that we have the makings to produce a victory like India, Australia and Venezuela for Miss Universe and Miss World this year through Cat-Kat. *fingers crossed*
* I love Laura as our last year’s Miss World Philippines and she deserved a better placement but, if Katarina wins, she’ll be a MAJOR UPGRADE. We might have a high placement again this time, but hopefully the stars will be aligned for her. Knowing MWO, results can be unpredictable.
* This batch of Miss World contestants are quite weaker compared to last year. Honestly, I haven’t seen a solid choice for the crown yet. Last year, Manushi was quite an obvious choice even if there were strong competitors from Mexico, Russia and Indonesia. Katarina stands a chance to win this year, but knowing MWO, the pageant might have an unpredictable winner, which reminds me so much of 2015. That year had quite a weaker batch with some few strong contenders (Russia, Lebanon, South Africa, Indonesia, to name a few), yet they crowned a surprise winner, Spain, and left some of the top performers out of the Top 5 (Hillarie). Hopefully everything goes well this year.
* I would really love to have a Cat-Kat tandem for Philippines this year. Catriona and Katarina is sharing some similarities after all. Cat is an Miss World Philippines crossover to Binibini. Kat is a Binibini crossover to Miss World Philippines. Both of their predecessors are crossover queens as well (Rachel as an Miss World Philippines crossover, Laura as a Bb. Pilipinas crossover) It was January 15, 2018 when Catriona Gray was formally announced as part of Binibining Pilipinas 2018 candidates. 7 months later, today, August 15, 2018, Katarina Rodriguez is now part of Miss World Philippines 2018 candidates. This makes me feel excited for Katarina’s journey to Miss World and I wish her all the best.

Thank you!!!
Wala pang sure win. Hindi sya kasing lakas ng 2013, 2014 at 2017. This year, parang sila Mexico at Brazil lang malakas
