Question about Guadeloupe

Postby OMA » Mon Aug 06, 2012 9:21 pm

Miss Guadeloupe can not win the Miss World Caribbean title, correct?
Because Guadeloupe is technically part of France/European Union and would be up for the Queen of Europe title just like in 2009 when Martinique was the only Caribbean contestant in the top 15 but the title was give to Barbados. :-O

In 2001, Zizi Lee from Aruba became 1st runner up and became Queen of Caribbean even though Aruba is an overseas territory of the Netherlands. I think MWO should be more specific about it. :|

Exactly. It should be about geographical location and not political administration. Since Guadeloupe is in the Caribbean and can't win the Caribbean title, why not send Miss Guadeloupe to Miss France and not directly to Miss World?

The fiasco in 2009 was probably Julia's way of making up to Miss Barbados for not including her in the semi. That is just my theory, since they never released a statement of explanation.

Technically Guadeloupe does compete in Miss France, it's been a while since they've won however.
And it was likely before they also had a separate franchise for MW.
Which is kind of weird, but I believe that if Miss Guadeloupe wins Miss France they won't allow her to compete in Miss World.

The Miss World Org has a franchise holder which is responsible for sending representatives from Guadeloupe and Martinique to Miss World.

The Miss France Org also has its franchise in those territories which means a woman from those territories actually have more than one route to reach Miss World. They can go to the long way to Miss France or choose to take a short cut by competing in Miss Monde Guadeloupe or Martinique Queen.

Brigitte Ramassamy Golabkan actually competed in Miss Guadeloupe for Miss France in 2011, placed in the top 12 then decided to compete in Miss Monde Guadeloupe which she won.

Here she is at Miss Guadeloupe for Miss France in 2011

Well, that one I understand. I never actually considered Israel and Lebanon as Asian countries.
More specifically because they're described as a Middle Eastern countries.
But Israel is part of the European Union and both countries border the Mediterranean sea like other Southern European countries and both have had a lot of contact with Europe throughout history. Or at least that's what I think.

nothing to worry. . she can still win Continental Queen of Europe anyway. .
besides, this continental crap has no significance at all. .
in fact, just like last year, they awarded it during the party and not on the coronation night. .

But then Turkey, Morocco & etc. should be categorized aswell.
Wow, MW is worse political bullshit than I thought. =;))

Well they discontinued the Southern Europe title and it's back to just Europe.
Turkey won Miss World Europe in 2002 (before they split it up and then reunited the title again). :)>-

Sorry to butt in... it's just that, I felt that I should correct the info about Israel... It is not part of the European Union. But, I have to say that a lot of present-day Israelis were originally from European countries like Lithuania, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, etc...

Honestly, I have never gave a f**k about those issues, people make huge things out of nothing, those things are not evaluated in competition, so whatever.

Cyprus (but not the North of the island) is part of the European Union but Kazakhstan has only a minimum part in Europe and they didn't try to join EU.
