For an on-the-go person like you, you'd find Ordos a lonely place to visit unless you enjoy cultural and historical trips.

turkolove111 wrote:i have read this article about Ordos just last week, primarily I think hey are just promoting ordos to the world since this city like what was said is a ghost city, none of the Chinese wants to live there( prefer other cities, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzou, etc)...

I wish I could delve further into the issues behind the MWO's decision to choose Ordos. Choosing a venue for a beauty pageant is one good subject for research.

So what will happen on August 2012 in Ordos? A new MW will be crowned in the land of the ertswhile Mongol Empire.

You are very interesting. You know history well.
Am more interested on G Khan and his involvement, re. buddhism. Am not sure but looks like the next in succession of Dalai Lama ( presently in India ) has historical connection with Khan. Parang nabasa ko lang pero saklaw lang.

Genghis Khan was a Shamanist, but tolerant of other religions. Under his administration, religious leaders were even exempt of taxes. In fact Mongol Emperors were known for organizing religious debates that drew audiences. It was his grandson, Kublai Khan, the founder of the Yuan Dynasty, who favored Buddhism.
Actually, I specialize in socio-economics so history is part of my daily bread.

MISS_TWIX wrote:Nice info sir Eddie. I was also puzzled when I heard Ordos will be hosting Miss World because I never heard that place. I think this is their move to make the city livelier and be known by other chinese people because like what you have said they are like "ghost town", knowing there are nearly 2 billion people in China, only thousands of people lives there.
