SOME RANDOM THOUGHTS on MISS WORLD

Postby paopaonine » Wed Aug 01, 2012 3:08 am

SOME RANDOM THOUGHTS on MISS WORLD PAGEANT

I used to be an die-hard fan of Miss World pageant especially during the time when Philippines made a three-peat streak in 2003-2005.It is the most elusive international beauty pageant to us Filipinos. We have been waiting for a Filipino woman to be crowned Miss World. We almost had the crown last year with the towering beauty Gwen Ruais until it slipped to or Venezuela's head who by the way deserved the crown. To be honest,I wasn't really that ecstatic when Philippines placed in Miss World last year maybe because I lost interest in the beauty pageant itself.I can clearly tell that Miss World is not a very popular pageant here in the Philippines compared to Miss Universe.China is again the host country for the 6th time.Out of 5 Miss World editions in the past which were held in China, only in the year 2005 that China missed the cut.I hate to say this but most of their representatives did not deserve their placements except the Miss World 2007 though her beauty is not my cup of tea.I applaud Miss World though for changing it's format for the selection of semi-finalist,at least it is getting objective compared to the past editions where random girls just make it to the semifinals.

Of Africans in Miss World

It's really a intriguing question whether an African will be finally crowned in Miss World.Back in 2007, Angola was the bomb,I love her face and her stage presence but we all know that the crown was reserved for China that year.In 2010,I still don't understand why Botswana did not win over USA.No offense, but the reign of Miss World 2010 was one of the most boring reign ever in Miss World. Will the host country China ever win an African?

Philippines and China Feud

I really think it's just a conspiracy that Chinese organizers are sabotaging Philippine representatives. My fellow Filipinos should not be over-reactive to little things like Miss Philippines video part being cut because it's really annoying and we act as if only our country deserves to wear the crown. If Philippines will win this year, most of us will then say those were just rumors, but if Philippines will not win, most of us will also say that it's a "COOKING SHOW!".We also need to put in our mind that there are 100 girls competing, and all of them are doing their best to win.

Hot-picks in Missosology

The hot-picks in Missosology is so random.I'm not even sure why it's existing ,when in fact it just clearly showing the name of the country and their faces. Why can't Missosology at least provide some details why these candidates were chosen in the list.In that way,the assessment will be more objective and highly credible.

MISS WORLD is still boring me....no offense...

Why do I yawn whenever I see photos of the activities of Miss World pageant?I can see a lot of beautiful faces but it's really not making me stick to what they're doing. Most of the girls don't have the attitude on stage.I do understand that Miss World is more on the sweet side of a woman but sometimes they really need to make an effort to have an impact to fans. The pageant fans is what makes the pageant more successful.Without us fans, nobody will ever talk about their pageant. At least, they made some effort with creating the Multimedia award which motivated fans to participate and support their respective reps.

THIS BATCH can easily be forgotten....

I remember in the past,I can even recall and memorize some not so known candidates but this year,NADA!I don't remember their names, just their faces.End of story.I also noticed,Julia Morley is less photographed.I miss her CHARITABLE FACE.lol.

I think if Miss World will have a better presentation this year, then the pageant would definitely raised the quality of pageants for the rest of the international pageants especially Miss Universe.I love their stage.I do hope they will crown a beautiful winner with a lot of personality.I also wish that the pageant will not be held in China anymore as the results has become more predictable and uninteresting.

Good observation !!! Likewise, I can still name all the candidates who made in the Top 20 of Miss Universe 2006 that those who made the semifinals of Ms World 2011. Bottom line, kahit gaano kaganda ang stage ng Ms World, walang recall factor siguro dahil na din sa dami ng candidates at very less exposure ng semifinals sa stage.

A good thread!

I agree that hotpicks are so random and some chinese girls did not deserve.

But this time even if she wins, it will be fair enough!

Also, why some forumers are acting crazy I do not understand.

Philippines is not the most beautiful or most favored. So why crying over some missed photo?

China does not have good ties with so many countries, so what?

Thank You!

I agree with most parts but the “Miss World is boring” one. When we talk about MW final, I will agree with you. It is boring. But MW pre-pageant activities is the most interesting and exciting out of all Grand Slam pageants I have followed in years. Especially in the last 3 years, I found MW pre-pageant activities much more superior, in the terms of excitement, than the ones for MU.

i believe that what we had was not a three year streak (2003- 2005) but a four year streak which began in 2002 with Kate Manalo's Top Ten finish. It ended in 2006 with the non- inclusion of Anna Maris Igpit

with regards to an African being crowned as Miss World, it happened already as early as 1955 or 56 with Antigone Costanda (not sure with name) of Egypt ( northern part of Africa) being crowned as Miss World but if we're talking about black Africans, the most recent was Agbani Darego of Nigeria who clinched the title over Zizi Lee of Aruba back in 2001

but kudos still for a very interesting and entertaining thread

Just because a candidate is not the most beautiful and not the most favored means excluding her in most aspects of the competition and treating her unfairly? That is not and will never be an excuse. The Org or the host is doing something fishy. They should treat all their candidates fairly no matter how ugly or infamous they are! Such a shame!

Yeah,I almost forgot Kate Manalo's Top Ten finish who actually started the streak...I was just really overwhelmed with the back to back Top 5 placement in 2003 and 2004 plus Carlene Aguilar in 2005 who was a heavy favorite of a lot of fans, not just Filipinos....

thanks, but I was solely referring to an African being crowned in China....they almost had it in 2007 and 2010...in which both editions were held in China.

AROGANTE much. chekwa ka nga. another wimpy alternick graces us guys, hold on tight! LOL.

ANYWAY, LIKE YOU, I SHALL MIRROR YOUR MANNER OF ARGUEMENTS BUT I WILL COUPLE IT WITH MUCH STRONGER REASONINGS WHICH YOU COMPLETELY LACK.
It's so funny to the point of being ridiculously moronic idea, that the word "FAIR" would even grace your thoughts. D'ya really know the meaning of FAIRNESS??! What a toddleriffic question, well for a newbie alternick like you, that's expected.
Geez, now, let me ask that back to you, maybe this time you might get it (IT'S NO BRAINER!)....."WHY IS IT SO THAT CHINA REALLY DOESN'T HAVE GOOD TIES WITH A LOT OF COUNTRIES?!" Fairness... good ties.... that doesn't spell out much for China! Ding! Ding! Ding!!!
(Are you still following?! I'm not done yet. wipe that nosebleed, it's bout to get harder to swallow! LMAO.) >:) >:) >:)

OH C'MON. WE'RE NOT BORN YESTERDAY AS IF WE DON'T KNOW HOW YOU PEEPZ WORK.
If China wins, then there's nothing but empty accolades. Why? Because no matter how many crowns you covet, that will never EVER justify those UNDESERVING PLACEMENTS OF YOUR REPRESENTATIVES THAT ROBBED OTHER MOST DESERVING GODDESSES. Got it.
THAT KIND OF WIN WILL NEVER BE AT PAR TO THE REIGN OF TRUE QUEENS. Try as you might, it will bear no respect nor will it gain international admiration and recognition.... all that tainted victory will be nothing but equivalent to make believe delusions. NONETHELESS, I STILL DOESN'T CARE IF UR REP WINS. HER VICTORY WILL CHANGE NOTHING. LIKE A PASSING ORDINARY DAY. THAT'S ALL. :-@ :-@ :-@

Do we fuss over your candidate?! DREAM ON. =i 8-} :-j

U say we cry foul to QR... but those are nothing but just small chitchats AMONG FLIPS (NONE OF YOUR CONCERN, WHY DO U EVEN CARE SO MUCH IF WE TALK IF YOU'RE SOOOOO CONFIDENT ON YOUR BET?!?!)
It's also called exchanges of opinions, stands & angles of a story, voicing out one's thoughts. U KNOW.........it's the thing called "DEMOCRACRATIC TALKS" that we do among ourselves. We do it ALL the time. That's expected after all. NO BRAINER.
We have lotssssss of it. (brace yourself dude!) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;)) =;))

So there you have it........
my "sound" revalida on your weak opinion. I shall not dwell on you further for it's as clear as the sun, no talks of diplomatic debate nor sound exchange of thoughts can populate your meager and feeble psyche. I just hope you understood MY STAND ON YOUR "OPINION".
Well.... afterall, people like you cannot stand other people having opinions against you MORE...... u know..... IT'S NO BRAINER TOO. :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Again, whatever the outcome is, She already showed she's a good contender vying for the crown. I'm already personally proud of OUR REP. And Personally, as a fan of QR, I already laud her efforts. nothing more will be asked of her. K. THANX. BYE! LOL. :%)) :%)) :%)) :%)) :%))

TO THE TS! twas a good read. :=p
