The face - and body of abi and joseph and now Australian Winner and entrant for Miss Universe, held later this year in Sao Paulo, Brazil, catches up with Erin Hoey to share, well, "all those things we all want to know about" a top model...Scherri, you are a compelling beauty! Of all the campaigns we’ve run, never has there been such response from both men and women alike. Tell us - apart from DNA – what’s your secret to keeping in shape and looking good?First of all... Thank you for such a flattering intro... (Laughs)
I’m certainly not a person to keep a strict regime of diet and exercise week in, week out, it’s just not in my nature to be that way (although sometimes I wish I could). I simply try to stick to three guidelines in managing my appearance.
Firstly; I change up my exercise, I find things I like and try to do one or two of these things a day. I do things like running or walking on the beach, a Pilates class, a boxing session or a cycle down the coast. I’m not sure if it’s just my body, but it seems to respond well to variety.

With diet I eat for my health. I like reading up on nutrition and knowing the effects it has on my health and body, rather than weight. I try to eat my 2 fruit and 5 veg a day, with the added protein it ends up being really filling and I run out of space for all the naughty stuff. I also drink lots of water with chlorophyll or lemon to cleanse.
The last and most important thing is to be happy!! I always find ways of relaxing or picking myself up when I’m down. When I’m not in good spirits I find it rather difficult to exercise and eat healthy. When you’re happy there’s always a certain glow about you and all three work coherently in keeping me positive and healthy.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? This is always a difficult question, I’m so young and haven’t had enough time to do something ‘great’ haha, but I guess mine would just generally be travelling and working away. I first left Perth when I was 17 to work in Sydney for a few months and then onto Germany for a few more. Now that I look back I think it was quite brave to have moved to a city alone and I don’t remember being very frightened of the idea. I have realised now though why my mum didn’t sleep very much then. (Laughs)
If you could come back as any other living person or ‘thing’ what would it be?!My dog, Monty... He gets insane amounts of attention in a house of girls and is living the dream (Laughs yet again!)
Let’s talk handbags! Scherri, what 5 items do you always keep close on hand?My iPhone! I know what a terrible ‘must have’ item, but my entire life is on there and I would probably stop functioning without it
Kalahari Soothing Hand Balm- It’s this yummy hand cream, with scents and ingredients sourced from the Kalahari Desert.
A big bottle of water and chlorophyll
At the moment, a book called ‘Half the Sky’ by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. Not a light read, but definitely a must read. It’s something I feel quite passionately about.
A small bottle of either L’eau D’ Issey by Issey Miyake or Gucci by Gucci to freshen up
Your greatest extravagance?I’m pretty frugal, so not many extravagances this end. But I’d probably say shoes.. How very typically girly of me, but I’d buy a beautiful pair of shoes over a pretty dress any day. I like to think of it as a work expense though (laughs)
Any vices?Put a bag of natural confectionary party mix in front of me and you won’t get the chance to share. I’ve had to just completely stop myself from buying them. I can’t do just one or two at a time, it’s all or nothing!
Modelling. Your Loves and Loathes of the job?I love the excitement and uncertainty, at the beginning of every year I get tingles thinking of what they year might hold for me, where I’ll be and what I might be doing.
It’s not an easy job, as most might think, it definitely has plenty of aspects to loathe, but I think... If you get beyond those, you must love it
The hardest thing is being away from your loved ones and being alone in a foreign city.
Most exotic destination you have travelled to?On Safari in South Africa. There is something so amazing about being on Safari, it’s so different and you feel you’re a million miles away from everything else.
Tell us, how often do you break a sweat in the name of fitness? As I said I’m definitely not the best person at keeping a regime and it’s particularly hard when you travel between cities. However my goal is to get out and do one thing a day. Even if it’s just a walk, it usually sparks me into doing something else or at least relaxes me and prepares me for my day ahead.
What do you wish you had more time to do?I wish I had the time to join a dance school. I used to dance ballet, contemporary and Spanish quite seriously until I was 15. I think I would enjoy taking up something fun like Salsa.
I also would like to paint a bit more. It’s not relaxing at all, I don’t know who ever said that, but it’s this great feeling of accomplishment at the end of it that I love.
Tell us, what ticks you off?People who like to tell you how much money they have. Money's important to me and I enjoy working hard for it, but there’s no trait more ugly on a person or just quite boring to listen to really.
You’ve recently started Pilates, have you noticed any changes in your body?Oh wow... Pilates, where have you been all my life? It’s amazing! It’s that fine tuning effect that looks and feels so good. I saw quite a difference on the lower of my tummy and that little lift of the bum. The thing I loved most about it though was the euphoric feeling I got when I left the class.
Indulge us, what is your favourite abi and joseph piece and why?I love the ballet wrap tops... Maybe it’s the ex-ballerina coming out in me, but the material is so soft and luxurious, I’d want to wear it all day! The black looks especially elegant and sophisticated.
We hear you’re not the only gorgeous one in your family! There are sisters too?Yes I have two sisters, we’re 6 years apart. There’s Shae who is 26 and recently engaged, and my little sister who turned 15 last week. We’re all very close.
I have a beautiful, very elegant mum, Liz, who never ceases to inspire me and an extremely handy/capable Dad, who sometimes cracks under the pressure of a girly household.
He does however have his son to turn to... the lovely and fluffy little Monty Biggs, who gets sooo much attention from all us girls, he can do no wrong!
