Should Taiwan & Hong Kong return to Miss Universe?

The People’s Republic of China has been competing in Miss Universe since 2002 and has so far received 4 placements, with their last being in 2017.

Prior to the debut of the Mainland, two other Chinese territories had competed in Miss Universe since the humble beginnings of the pageant, which are Hong Kong (a British territory during that time) and Taiwan (a.k.a. The Republic of China). Hong Kong was last seen on stage in 2000, and Taiwan was last seen in 2004 (during that time competed as Chinese Taipei). Since that, we have not seen one delegate from these said territories competing. The reasonable explanation could be the pressure from the ruling government of China in regard to the One China Policy, which recognizes the PRC as the legitimate China instead of the ROC; the support of the democracy protests in HK; and the attempt to bring close diplomatic relationships to Taiwan, which the Communist Party of China fully hates.

As someone who’s supports human rights, justice, and freedom for Mainland China and its people under the CCP, this is something I would want to happen. What do you think? Should Taiwan and HK return to Miss Universe?

Let me know.

TVB is no longer interested with buying any international pageant franchise and also they focused on developing the candidates into bankable actresses like Toby Chan, Rebecca Zhu, Mayanne Mak, Grace Chan, Sissley Choi, Moon Lau, Crystal Fung, Tiffany Lau, Andrea So, Hera Chan, Rosita Kwok, Lisa Tse and other Miss HK beauties which they can earn more than winning Miss World or Miss International crown?

China is like France since their overseas regions & territories like Guadeloupe, Martinique, Tahiti, Reunion Island, New Caledonia, etc. were not allowed to compete independently at Miss Universe but competed at Miss France?

True.

Also note that Taiwan is still an independent nation despite the claims from China saying that it's part of their territory. They have declared their delegate to compete at Miss International for this year.

MUO is already opened door for license application but so far none of the potential Taiwanese license holder wanted to apply or bid for the license. I think high bidding price is hurting some countries?

Taiwan should return if 'Republic of China' can be use for sash again, it's their official country name, and Hong Kong is sending contestant to Miss Universe China so they can't join Miss Universe by themselves.

As long as the Miss Universe Organization ignores the Chinese government's tantrum, then it'll happen.

And what does that have to do with the topic? It's about Taiwan and HK, not Anne.
And also, this is no place for crab mentality, okay ^^? :-D =b Keep your tone low.

Let's be sincere and kind to each other ^^

Gosh .
Learn English .

You asked a question and I answered “no” .

I don’t want Taiwan and Hongkong to return .

You make it as if joining Miss Universe is politically motivated of some sort .
It’s not .
Anyone can join as long as they have the money . Franchise fee.... ring a bell ?
Money talks ... geez .

Just so you know .... Puerto Rico and Guam are not countries and yet they are allowed to compete .

And what is it to you if I bash the owner of the MUO ? Are you a Democrat ? Ha ha

I want them to be fully independent from China
But you know they can't compete Miss Universe with their own sash
