LOSING INTEREST IN MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT

I am losing interest in Miss Universe pageant due to major and drastic changes done under the new owner a Thai transgender Khun Anne Jungkratip... the latest was that only Miss Universe title should be contested in a national pageant and no other titles should be contested.

I also disagree about married women, single moms, divorced, have children women or mind you PREGNANT women to compete in Miss Universe. The reason why there are lots of pageants created for women is to celebrate the diversity of women - different kinds of women competing in different kinds of pageants and let these women compete in their respective pageants so they will be given the proper honor, tribute and celebration that they deserve - single women can compete in pageants like Miss Universe while married, divorced, single parent women can compete in pageants such as Mrs. Universe, Mrs. World and maybe even Bikini Tropics International. There will be an unfair and unequal treatment of women based on their status plus also the demand of the pageants such as Miss Universe which is appropriate for single women may be too much for say pregnant women to compete or even women with children.

This is, in fact, the truth, whether people want to accept it or not Look around the world, look at progressive countries, especially the United States and Europe, you can’t watch a soccer match, a movie, or even an awards show without calls for equality, ranging from race, gender, even religion. We have evolved. Some countries more than others. And the countries that do evolve, some thing like a “beauty” pageant, has become very off-putting. If they don’t make allowances and move with the mindset of the times, the pageant would have already been obsolete, except for some countries maybe in Latin America and Asia. Let’s be real. Even though Miss USA won, it wasn’t even trending in the US. Nobody knew about it. You had to stream it on Roku, as no network wanted to televise it. Many don’t view pageants as progressive or even tolerable, I don’t think some people really understand that. It’s not the sweet, harmless contest it was sold as in the 1950s. You can’t want the world to progress and evolve and yet expect things to stay the same.

I believe that’s what the evolution of the pageant is trying to accomplish in trending away from just being a pretty, young face. People harass R’bonney because she’s 28, ..28! That is so young.
