As long as they follow rules obviously.

There are many more groups who are now preparing to shift their loyalty to Miss International... My mailbox is overflowing with messages!!!

Puteri Indonesia actually fits Miss International more than Miss Universe. Puteris are expected to act like royal princess, polite, demure, respectful etc. If they want to be fierce and sultry they usually wait until they leave for the competition, especially the ones who compete in Miss Universe and MS.

I agree with you! The pageant might of Puteri is actually proof that you don't need swimsuit competition to make the show entertaining! Even if I do not understand Bahasa Indonesia, I'm still entertained by Puteri Indonesia.

I am glad you enjoyed the pageant. Sometimes I feel bad for the international queens who attended the Puteri's finale, they had to sit there for hours not knowing what people were saying. I remember Olivia Culpo said that Roston Ogata told her to bring some hot chilli peppers to the arena just in case she gets bored and sleepy, she can nibble those hot peppers to prevent her from falling asleep![]()

Luckily in the last few years more and more contestants have used English in their speeches or to answer the questions.

I was still hoping the JKN acquisition would elevate it. And now, with the new MUO memo to NDs flooding social media, I'm left wondering if it's time for me to remain a casual pageant observer permanently. It's become too ahead of my time.
Anne is being true to form: from the get-go, she wants the Miss Universe brand to be a lucrative investment, and charging the highest license fees for the most prestigious crown makes sense. But the memo that has been shared across all socmed channels--if indeed it is bona fide--has a cold and calculating tone. "You want prestige? Do you want ROI? Then prove your worth to me as your business partner" is what it simply says in effect. Nothing wrong--it's an fiscal partnership after all--but this is not encouraging to license holders with smaller capital--for example, Bahrain and the smaller countries. How do these smaller groups recoup their investment? Will their crown-holders be lucrative advertising ambassadors for the big-budgeted consumer and retail companies? (That, apparently, is why the memo requires a marketing plan from the NDs.)
Which leads to the frightening existential possibility that a non-local will own and run the franchise. Already, an Indonesian singer/actress with zero pageant background--and she's touted as "Anne's best friend" in socmed--now owns the Miss Universe franchise for both Malaysia and Indonesia. While some find this a complete non-issue, I do: there are countries where foreign direct investments in local business are not allowed. There are nations where beauty pageantry has taken nationalist symbolism (Thailand, the Philippines). I can't think of a Filipino entity being thrown into this bidding process, so I won't be surprised if the MUPH license goes to a non-Filipino.
I can't help thinking that the winning bid will be given to the group that has the best marketing plan . . . for bottled water. Punyemas.

Siyempre, mas papaboran ni vaklang nagpaputol ng tite pero boses halimaw yung mas malaki ang bayad sa franchise fee compared dun sa mga poorisima na waley datung at barya barya lang ang kayang ibayad.
In short, MONEY TALKS ang labanan.
