The 71st edition of Miss Universe had a lot of Latinas who are ready to kill the Q&A without being translated. It was very evident in the interviews that they can engage in conversations in English without interpreters unlike in the previous years where most girls are dependent on translation (which also works as a strategy for them for instance).
However, in this edition, despite the dominance of Latinas, they all answered the Q&A with motherhood statements, very generic motivational quotes as compared to R'Bonney who cited tangible examples and actual experiences in her life. Dominican Republic was close but her delivery was so dull unfortunately. Puerto Rico and Venezuela were neck and neck in generica while Curacao failed to find substance in her Q&A which lead to her elimination.
When will the Latinas finally recover from this? Most of their recent wins were actually contested. Remember how Jamaican fans booed after Kaci Fennell was eliminated in 2014 and Andrea Meza's win was considered a WTF win due to her impactless Q&A delivery as compared to India and Peru.
Venezuela was the most promising this year (compared to Dominican Republic who was a bit too intimidating especially the "not wives, not mothers" answer )but her lack of actual experience was against her favor (a few more years and she could have been unstoppable with hwo she answered Q&A in English).
2019 was a more formidable year with Madison and Sofia really dominating the Q&A but obviously they had no match against Zozibini. Any thoughts?
