Miss Universe Philippines was a hard-fought battle for everyone. Before the results were revealed there was already
a tug-of-war between Katrina Dimaranan and Steffi Rose Aberasturi for the top spot. And to make matters worst
Kirsten Danielle Delavin and Rousanne Marie Bernos joined the melee as their rah-rah and pompom girls can't get
enough of them making them the most popular of this batch.
Where does that leave Beatrice Luigi Gomez? She was not a frontrunner in everyone's eyes, and she was not the
top seed in popular betting sites. She was not their first choice, not a forerunner, not a favorite, not the best option,
and definitely not the top horse.
She is in the radar of everyone's prediction list, and definitely, she's just within the periphery and the spitting
distance of the winner circle, but sadly she is not everyone's WINNER!
But in the finals, she showed everyone what she's made of. Clearly, she was the winner in the eyes of the people
that matter most - the judges.
Was Beatrice Luigi Gomez in your opinion a darkhorse or an underdog? Before you start answering let's try to
refresh our vocabulary skills by defining these two terms?
An underdog is a competitor that nobody thinks will win. ... A dark horse is an unknown competitor with unknown
strengths that goes on to surprise people by winning or doing better than everyone expected.
