Damn, I was really hoping that Sierra S. would have another year. I know she was 20 during her Miss America year in 2014, but apparently she's a December '93 baby and is just barely too old. Now I'm even more disappointed she lost this past year.

All in for Sierra Norman for Idaho 2022

Small batch, as per usual in Montana. Of the 2021 runners-up, three have opted to return: Amelia Beard (1RU; 4RU 2020), Rachel Jakovac (2RU), and Courtney Hawkins (3RU). There were no semifinalists at Miss Montana USA 2021. Other notable names include Heather Lee O'Keefe (Non-Finalist Florida 2021; 2RU Florida 2020) and Starla Smith (California, Nevada, and New Mexico clapper). Autumn Powers, Gracie Raynor, and Tara Broderick seem promising to me.

Amelia Beard:

Rachel Jakovac:

Courtney Hawkins:

Heather Lee O'Keefe:

Starla Smith:

Autumn Powers:

I do love Heather Lee O'Keefe, I think she's fabulous and Montana's best chance of getting a placement. Montana has the longest active non-placement drought in the country, having not placed since 1958, and if Jami doesn't place this year, Montana will tie Delaware's all time record of 63 years with no placement at Miss USA. If I were a Montanan, I'd kind of want to break that streak by all means necessary.

I think there's a fine line when it comes to statehopping. Starla, in my view, has crossed that line blatantly. I don't think Heather has IMO. I'd love to see a native Montanan win, but I also won't be too pressed if Heather does.

I don't believe Tara Broderick competed at California USA but she was Miss California International 2020 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JusPv5cnfN4

Montana USA 2022 contestant page has been updated and Starla Smith is no longer listed. Maybe Pageants Northwest became aware of her state hopping.

If she was born in December '93 how is she aged out? She'd be 27 then right, and not turn 28 until December? Isn't the cut-off that you just have to be under 28 by January 1 of the year you'd be competing in Miss USA? There are girls with titles this year who are already 28, and Sierra is younger than that isn't she? Is my math just bad?

Yes she would need to be under 28 (so 27 or younger) on January 1, so the 2021 cycle is the last year for 1993 babies, 2022 is the last year for 1994 babies and so on. She was born in December 1993 so she would have just barely turned 28

The length Heather Lee O'Keefe is going to look like she's actually Montanan is kinda funny. Like I appreciate the effort which some state-hoppers don't care to put in in the slightest, but it looks like she's cosplaying or something, with the cowboy hat and all lol.

Postby Thomas876 » Mon Aug 30, 2021 5:22 pm

Here are my thoughts about the upcoming state pageants:

IDAHO - Good batch! :=p I love Alexis Ashley (I loved her in Miss Washington USA 2021) and Bobbijo Johnson (I loved her in Miss Missouri USA 2021).

I also like Abigail Sulfridge, Grace Mortensen, Hayli Gudenau, Lauren Saucedo, Lyssa Schei, Martha Smith and Sarah Massingale.

MONTANA - Small but good batch! :=p (thanks to state-hoppers 8-}) I love Gracie Raynor, HeatherLee O’Keefe (I loved her in Miss Florida USA 2021) and Tara Broderick.

I also like Amelia Beard, Autumn Powers and Rachel Jakovac. I'm not disappointed that Starla Smith withdrew even though I loved her in Miss Nevada USA 2021 and Miss Colorado USA 2021, I think she is a Photoshop queen.

If only real Montanans are to win, I support Amelia. She would be a very good candidate, quite correct on the Miss USA stage. I hope the newly elected queen will be as beautiful as Jami and I still hope the same for Jami, that she breaks her state's drought, I think she has the ability (I hope she is well prepared [-O<).
TOP 5 for Miss Universe 2024 :

1. France 2. Mongolia 3. Kazakhstan
4. Venezuela 5. Kyrgyzstan

I just don't like Heather. I don't know why, but she looks odd to me often. Is it her nose that makes her look like plastic? I once saw a picture of her and thought she was Jessica Alves lol. It was a bad photo though, but something about her face just seems fake to me. And she also looks like a +30 yrs old housewife too at times. But I guess she still would pretty much be one of the best Miss Montana USA's ever.

I'm cheering for Gracie. I think she is gorgeous, reminds me of Denise Richards. Just don't style yourself too teen. But I think she did well with her styling in that Miss US pageant she won.

Amelia would be my pick if we were to crown a native Montana citizen. :=p

I'm howling at the Jessica Alves thing =;)) =;)) =;)) Idk, I still like Heather. But upon researching her, it appears she's originally from West Virginia, I kind of wish she was competing there in her home state if she was looking for a state less competitive than the one she currently lives in. And Montana is much more of a schlep from Florida than West Virginia is anyway.

Good Luck To Hannah M competing at the National Sweetheart Pageant this weekend.....representing DC???? This state hopping is out of control! ~X( Girl just competed in 2021 DC Miss USA just over a month ago...has been living and working in DC for a few years! [-X Hope these state hoppers are reading the current Miss USA rules and realize they can only compete in 1 state per year/cycle! Pick a lane girls! (Yup I realize Miss ID USA next weekend is for the 2022 year) Good luck to all the MT & ID girls competing next weekend...even the state hoppers! >:D< Sure wish I could see Sierra S competing this year! Love that girl!

Miss Montana USA 2022 is Heather Lee O'Keefe!

Miss Idaho USA 2022 is Jordana Dahmen!

Not my number one picks but I'm happy with both results. At least we don't have to see Heather state hopping anymore lol.

NO SIERRA :%(( :%(( :%(( :%(( :%((

I'm fine with Heather. Yeah she's a statehopper, but she's gorgeous, an attorney, and Montana's best chance at getting a placement for the first time in literal generations.

MISS IDAHO USA 2022 IS JORDANA DAHMEN

This was Jordana's third time competing in Miss Idaho USA. She previously was a semifinalist in 2021, the 1RU in 2020, and a semifinalist in Miss Washington USA 2019. Jordana is an alumna of Washington State University and a native of Boise, Idaho. She works as a research coordinator, and is also an ambassador for the AAAS IF/THEN program of the American Association for the Advancement of the Sciences.

Full results:
Miss Idaho USA 2022: Jordana Dahmen
1RU: Hannah Menzner
2RU: Sierra Norman
3RU: Alexis Ashley
4RU: Jackie Andreason

Top 11:
Abigale Kondel
Grace Mortensen
Hayli Gudenau
Kaela Davis
Lauren Saucedo
Sara Archer

Well after Kim it seems like Idaho is truly back to where they used to be of crowning girls who end up at the bottom of the rankings. I think Jordana is a cute girl and she seems sweet and intelligent --- I remember last year when Pageants NW held their 2021 pageants during a peak of the pandemic she was the only one who opted to wear a mask --- but she will make no real impact on Miss USA. As long as Alexis Ashley didn't win, but I really am still so gutted for Sierra Norman.

Not my number one picks but I'm happy with both results. At least we don't have to see Heather state hopping anymore lol.

I'm fine with Heather. Yeah she's a statehopper, but she's gorgeous, an attorney, and Montana's best chance at getting a placement for the first time in literal generations.

Heather has a Juris Doctor (law degree) but I don't know if she's an attorney. Her bio still says "Future Esq." so she most likely is not able to practice law (ie, be an attorney) yet. I thought that maybe she failed the bar exam because her school isn't that good and its bar pass rate is in the 60% range I think, but it appears she just graduated in July so I don't know when she'll take it and it'll take awhile for scores to come back before she's an attorney.

MISS MONTANA USA 2022 IS HEATHER LEE O'KEEFE

This was Heather's first time competing in Miss Montana USA. She previously was the 2RU at Miss Florida USA 2020, and a clapper at Miss Florida USA 2021. Heather is originally from West Virginia and resides in Florida, and state-hopped to Montana after clapping in Florida 2021. She is an alumna of West Virginia University and Shepard Broad College of Law at Nova Southeastern University.

Full results:
Miss Montana USA 2022: Heather Lee O'Keefe >:<
1RU: Amelia Beard :%((
2RU: Courtney Hawkins
3RU: Gracie Raynor
4RU: Rachel Jakovac

Top 7:
Ashley Nicole Lindgren
Autumn Powers

I decided I'm going to be much more harsh to state-hoppers this year, so yeah, not happy. Amelia should have had this title, and I feel for the Montanan people that they once again get a representative who will not actually represent them. Heather competed in Florida two months before Montana, and has only "resided" there for one month before the pageant, so clearly she does not meet the residency requirement but for some reason is allowed to still compete and win.

Montana is historically a very weak state, so just based on that alone, Heather is probably one of the strongest girls they've ever crowned, but when I think about it I think this was a pretty stupid choice. If she won a Florida crown she probably would have had a great chance of placing at Miss USA due to sash factor and the assistance she'd get from what appears to be a well-funded directorship in Florida. But now she will have the awful Pageants NW to deal with the state with the worst sash factor in the country, and considering she couldn't even place in Florida this past year I don't know how she expects to place in Miss USA with these new circumstances, but alas. And also she's literally from West Virginia, a very weak and small state. Why not just compete there, use your childhood home as your address, and save everyone from the state-hopping drama?

I just checked her page and you're absolutely right, but I'm about 98% sure it used to say "Heather O'Keefe, Esq." with nothing about "future" in the title. Hmmm.

That'd be weird if she added the "future" part recently. I don't know what that would have meant, she got ahead of herself? She made a post about graduating with her law degree in July, so she definitely shouldn't have been calling herself an Esq. anytime before then.

State hopping has gotten ridiculous over the last few years. State hoppers and the directors that enable them should be named and shamed.

I think most directors aren't really in the business of shooing away girls who would be competitive at Miss USA. While on paper, it looks like Shanna and Pageants NW are the most guilty of it, I think a lot of that is simply a matter of their states being in close proximity to California and Texas so the girls from there are likely to want to go somewhere close to home.

Colorado and Wyoming (both Future Productions states) don't nearly see the amount of state-hoppers as Nevada and the Pageants NW states see though, and considering how in my opinion Wyoming should be THE state for state-hopping (smallest state in the country, somewhat close to California and Texas) it makes me wonder. I have long thought Shanna fosters and possibly even encourages state-hopping to Nevada and I have yet to be convinced that that's not the case.

I agree though that pageantry is a business and directors want more participation fees/sponsorship fees than less, so encouraging more girls to compete is still economical for them, but it just makes me wonder why the state-hopping is very often concentrated with just a few directorships. How often do we see state-hopping in a VanBros state, even though Kansas (for example) is very clearly not an incredibly competitive state?
