I agree with Carolina Gomez her score in evening gown is the highest score so far in Miss Universe history and her reaction of overjoy towards the winner is the most sportsmanlike ever for a Miss Universe runner up. I also like Paola Turbay and Taliana Vargas because they were also very good during their time and can head to head with each other.. If these women will compete with Paulina, Paulina will pale among them... these first runner up would also be ideal Miss Universe if were given a chance.

My second choice would have to be Paula Andrea Betancourt. I was totally smitten by her introduction at Miss Universe 1993 with her sexy national costume. The sexy skirt and her sultry pose blew me away.

Escandron (1974) wasn't the First Runner-up to Amparo Munoz (RIP) in 1974. Escandron placed 4th (3rd Runner-up) in the Top 5.

1. Paola Turbay (1992) - I rewatched her interview and understood why she topped that round. She was earnest and kept it simple but sounded highly intelligent.
2. Paola Andrea Betancur (1993) - had a resting bitch face. I wouldn't want her to represent charities or speak at events. She was built like a giantess which distracted.
3. Carolina Gomez (1994) - one of the most "perfect" candidates, most importantly how happy she was for Sushmita showed her true personality even under the spotlight
4. Taliana Vargas (2008) - oh my gawd this #1 fine woman started my interest in Miss Universe, one of the very best pasarelas to grace the stage. Sadly bombed the Q&A.
5. Ariadna Gutierrez (2015) - she's ok? shrugs. I hated the 2015 batch so much, all of them.
6. Laura Gonzalez (2017) - seems to have a very nice personality.

I'd pick Carolina, with Turbay close behind.
I wouldn't get Taliana as Miss Universe but I'd like to see her succeed in modelling/entertainment.
